it sounds like anxiety. you could try exploring the possible causes of your difficulties and what it is that makes you fearful. the breathing difficulties that you describe sound like symptoms of panic. it will help if you have some idea of what could be making you feel this way.
there are lots of resources on the internet to help you with anxiety. there are also helplines which support people with anxiety. your gp may also be able to point you in the right direction and may offer counselling or something to help you.

Hello
Maybe you are experiencing anxiety attacks? This can effect your breathing and can be very difficult to control, I had one and the best thing was breathing into a paper bag Yes! It worked it calmed me down and I was fine, I haven't had one since. Keep away from stress that could trigger this and try the paper bag method it may help you.

A whole lot of what you "do about it"
depends on what "IT" is.
Something unpleasant, an event? a trauma? an abuse? something done against you? a threat toward another person or you? Something you have done that has embarassed you?
To get ahold of you body, try some relaxation exercises, find ways to calm yourself. TALK about this with other people. Whatever it is, apearantly it is still unresolved in your mind.
Certanly it's some form of an emotional/physical reaction to your thoughts or feelings. If it lasts more than a day or two, get in to see the Dr.

stop thinking about breathing - go and do something that will take your mind off it - watch some tv, read a book, talk to people, answer more questions on here
oh and go and seek some help if it a big problem, your doctor might be able to recommend some groups or therapy

what you give your attention to grows...so dont give the attention to the lack...you need to practice breathing deep everyday and tell yourself you have no troubles breathing at all...your brain will except anything as true within 90 days..everytime you start to feel you cant breath....take 4 deep breaths and say out loud to yourself...I have no trouble breathing, I can breath just fine....this will do it if you let the bad thoughts go...
