my parakeet had a egg......?

Question

how long does it take 2 hatch?? and do i need 2 do anything 4 the egg?!?! like put n-e thing in the cage 2 lay on??

Has your bird got a mate,or are you talking about a single female? A single female occasionally will lay eggs, which will of course be unfertile without a male.it will NOT hatch. Do NOT remove the egg. leave the egg in the cage untill your bird loses complete interest in it. If you remove it before then, your bird may produce more eggs which could be unhealthy for her.Once she has lost all interest, remove the egg, and discard.Perhaps you could advise us if you have a PAIR of birds?

You might just need to buy it a birdhouse of some sort. I have about 30 parakeets, and the birds raise it and take care of it on their own, so there's no need for you to do anything. It might take about 2-3 weeks for the egg to hatch. If you have no male, just ignore it. Hope this helps!

If the egg is viable (that is there was a male available to mate) then you should provide a nesting box for the pair. If it isn't viable then you toss it out. I would not allow the bird to try and sit on the egg. If it was a talking and tame bird it might lose those attributes if allowed to try and brood the egg.

Birds should be able to make sure their egg is safe so you might not want to stick your hands near the egg to make the parents frustrated. To hatch an egg, I really dont know the answer but dont put anything on it. PLEASE dont.

ok well the egg isnt going to hatch unless the bird and a male bird had a sexuall intercourse..... if the bird didnt have any sexuall intercourse then take the egg out and thow it away it wount hatch itz just a calcium egg.

whats up my bff so what hav u bin doin these days ya i could just b a calcium egg and if not it will take up to bout 2-3 weeks but n e wayz my bff i'm just bein dumb and i copied those ppls answers to make me sound smart ite bye bff lauren!!!!
