Because Evil can be explained by selfishness. A bear steals a fish from another bear, then rapes a female. It makes sense to the bear to get what it can... even though it seems evil to us. It is hard to know for a fact if something evil/good is indeed influencing us. I take it you have had a pretty easy-go-lucky-life life :) Why do you assume God is good, if he indeed created Satan... and knew that Satan would be evil... since God knows everything.... then God caused Satan. If you believe in the bible... then you should understand the wrath of God in the old testiment.... and I am talking "wrath" wether just or not. Such as when God told Saul to slaughter every man women and child and livestock of their opponent. Do you really have a good understand of what God is???

You are right. Most atheistic people I know don't believe in God nor in Satan. It would be very strange that someone is able to say "God doesn't exist" but at the same time says "Satan exists".
I am an agnostic. It means I'm not sure if God exists or not, but anyway it is not important, because if he really existed, surely he wouldn't be as imperfect as he is described in the bible.
In the other hand, I am pretty sure Satan really exists. I have seen him face to face. Generally he is carrying a Bible in his hands, preaching and asking for money.

Kind of dumb isn't it. The Church of Satan isn't about Satan at all. It was written by Anton L. to combat idiocy and was more of a satire than anything. Satan was created in the Bible so why would anyone believe in one and not the other? He was God's most beautiful angel so sayeth the text.

I don't believe in Satan....I do believe in evil as we see it every day....but I also believe that those people that are evil are created by their environment....there is a scientific explanation for much of that...and God...yes I do believe in a divine higher power

I quit believing in Satan long before I stopped believing in God.
But the reverse is illogical, since Satan is basically a Christian concept. Man created God. Then God and Man together created Satan.
Who do you know that believes in Satan yet doesn't believe in God? Or are you just making an assumption based on something you overheard at Bible camp?

I don't know people could believe in satan and not believing in god. Maybe you mean, people worship satan, right ? But they still believe in god.
Jews believe in god and they don't believe in satan or hell, and most don't believe in adam and eve either

I believe in "good" as the right thing to do (the least harm creating of alternatives). You are on your own with "evil" and "God."
