Assuming you mean Licorice root (not the candy), it is good for soothing the stomach and general digestion, which is how it is most commonly used in the form of DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice root extract).
General Licorice is good for liver health, cardiovascular health, and it even helps to clean the colon.

Licquorice in its natural form is good for a lot of things,asthma,arthritis,gingivitis,colds,flu,cough,liver problems,dandruff (steep a bit of dried licquorice in vinegar overnight and use as a hair rinse)thats to name but a few of its uses.

It's a natural laxative or atleast that's what I was told. It might be an old wives tale.
