As the scripture in James tells us, even Satan and his angels believe. The difference in the belief that God expects is, acceptance of Jesus as our Savior and our Lord. To have a personal relationship with Jesus where His teaching of love God with all of your heart, soul and mind and love others as yourself are practiced by us.

There are three parts to salvation:
Justification--which comes when we believe that Christ died for our sins and confess to God that, because we are sinners, we need to accept that atonement on our behalf. We are then able to receive God's grace because, from then on, when He looks at us, he doesn't see our imperfect, sinful human natures, but the blood of Jesus that covers oru transgressions.
You are correct, however, in saying that just confessing belief is not the end of the story. James also said that "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26). In other words, our faith is an empty shell if we don't act on it, which brings us to the second part of salvation:
Sanctification--This is described in such verses as 2 Corinthians 5:17, that tells us that "if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away. And 1 Cor. 6:9-11, where Paul describes the Christians in Corinth as having been some of biggest sinners, but in verse 11 says, "And such WERE some of you; but ye are washed, but ye are sactified, but ye are justified. . ." (see, two different things?) So, sanctification is a process of walking through life endeavoring to become more Christ-like each day. We don't say, "Ok, I've believed, so I'm saved and can go on living a life that is displeasing to God." It doesn't work that way.
Finally, the third step is that we become Christ like. In our sinful human nature, we can never be perfectly Christ-like, but we will be once we reach the third step:
Glorified--This occurs when we meet Him in heaven. 1 John 3:2 says that we will be like Him and we will see Him as He is. At this point, our sanctification and our salvation are complete.
There you have it. :)

No. This scripture is symbolic. Jesus died for human beings, not for demons. Demons are lost and can never be saved. They know that. They know that they will suffer forever. On one occasion they said to Jesus, "What have we to do with you, Jesus, You Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" (Matt 8:29)
The demons trembled because they knew that a day awaited them when Christ would have His day with them.
As for humans Christ has given us a choice to not only believe that He exists, but to also accept Him as our personal Saviour.
“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10v9

Believing there is one God is a good start but in itself does not guarantee you'll go to heaven.

I would take this verse as saying, believing is great, it's a start, but even demons believe in God. You have to give your life and commitment to Him.

I hope it does 'cuz that's all I really have. I believe He exists but I don't agree with or like a lot of things that He does (in the Bible and in today's world).

My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.

Brother, we need faith, but what is faith without works? Follow the Lords commands and do His will, show your faith by your works and you will do just fine.
