by this are you saying that any religion is acceptable to argue Church and State matters?
as defined in websters dictionary.
Main Entry: re·li·gion
Pronunciation: ri-'li-j&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English religioun, from Anglo-French religiun, Latin religion-, religio supernatural constraint, sanction, religious practice, perhaps from religare to restrain, tie back -- more at RELY
1 a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
- re·li·gion·less adjective
if you pay attention to the third and fourth entries you will note that. the attitudes of Athiesim are quite well within the definition of religion. religion does not mean belief in Jesus, or God, or any higher power. it simply means that you have a belief that you follow

Actually the Constitution protects freedom of religion and the right to not be religious at all. I've been in christian shoes - why do you think I'm out of them?
And if you will notice, the title of this forum is Religion ~and~ Spirituality not any one particular religion. The two are separate entities and only overlap if a person so desires it. So those interested in spirituality, and I know many atheists aside from myself who are spiritual, are in the right forum.
Aside from that, Yahoo has made this an open forum for anyone to express their ~opinions~ about the topics at hand and no matter what belief system you have, or lack of belief as the case may be, everyone has an opinion to share. If you don't like someones opinion then sorry but I'm sure there are some that don't like yours too.

You're right. Lack of religion is not a religion.
You're wrong. The Constitution does guarantee me the freedom from religion.
You're wrong. I don't need to have a religion in order to be in favor of separation of church and state.
Two out of three is pretty good for you I imagine, but it's still an F.

Wow. Who peed in your wheaties this morning? Or is it your undies are on too tight?
So when were you appointed the "Be all, End all" for R&S? I guess I missed that memo.
Atheists are protected under the Constitution, jackass. Freedom of religion and Freedom FROM religion. Get a freaking clue.
Church and state? OHHHH you mean the Separation of Church and State? Do you have any friggin' idea what that means? It means, moron, that this country is not to be under any influence of the Church...period. Let me dumb it down for you. It means your little Church cannot have a say in how the Government runs the country. Remember the whole pilgrimage from England? WTF do you think that was about anyway?
Can't you just feel that good ole-fashioned Christian love just oozing out of this jerk?

i am not an atheist but i wanted to point out what i consider a flaw in your question....you are making the assumption that all atheists are non spiritual and that is not so...i can only make my own assumption about what they believe but it is basically a belief in no god and they are putting their faith in themselves not a stodgy old concept of an almighty god...just because they do not take the bait of religion does not mean they are not looking for answers spiritually... obviously if you spend time on Q&A they can be as narrow minded as the theist both would do well to live and let live

Not trying to pretend anything and I don't need a religion but as a friend once asked - Do you have to be a dog to post in the dog section?
Yahoo made this an open forum to discuss religion and spirituality. It is not a believers only forum. Sorry, but we get to stay.

I'm a Christian, and I think you are reprehensible. This is a free forum. ANYONE can participate.
Atheists DO believe in something. They don't believe in what we do.
How dare you make such a statement to them!!
Your question is grammatically incorrect, rude, and uncalled for.
You make Christians look like the fools some atheists think we are.
You are not following the ONE thing our Savior asked of us: treat others the way you want to be treated.
I'm sickened by this question.

People practicing religion are narrow minded if they think it has anything to do with spirituality..... Humans are spiritual, emotional, mental and physical beings.... this is a spiritual forum. It's unfortunate that Yahoo can't see there is a difference between spiritual and religion.... why don't you religious people take responsibility for your lives instead of thinking other humans should die to protect your right to believe lies..... When you look at life through religion you see sin and not sin.... not sin being of my religion and sin being not of my religion.... when you look at life and nature you see right and wrong without some book to brain wash you out of common sense.

There is no atheism forum and if they say they're atheist, then are they really "acting like they believe" in something? Notice when you have to check a religion for something, I know Myspace has it, Atheist is one of the choices.

The only thing we atheist share in common is that we don't believe in any gods. That doesn't mean we don't believe in anything. Atheism does NOT equal Nihilism. Retard.
"what if I'm wrong,what if you're wrong"
So now you have resorted to what is called pascal's wager. That's the weakest argument you could use. You got pwned and are desperate. It's Obvious!
