there are minor differences in technique but generally you want to let your arms hangs freely and rock your shoulders back and fourth to move the putter. do not use your wrists to move the club. you want the club to go basically straight back and then straight through, also get a routine and repeat iT everytime you take a stroke.

The only proper technique is whatever gets the ball in the hole.

If you watch 10 players on the tour, you'll see 12 different putting techniques. Some players use one putting style for long putts, and a different style for short putts.

look at Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, and Chris DeMarco for the full lineup of putting styles. It seems to work for them.

Golf for Dummies details most of the major putting styles. The most important thing is repeatability

The thing I think is important is keeping your elbows tight!!! Other than that its all on the individual to find what works for him/her... Its not like driving or hitting irons the technique isnt as important!!!!Thats my take on it

whatever makes YOU most comfortable standing over the ball my man...lots of players, even pro's change their putting styles it's just what they're feeling comfortable with at the moment...i've tried so many before finding one that fits that it's not a big deal..just don't over analyze and feel comfortable

when you putt do not move your hips, head, or wrists. line up the putter blade behind the ball square to target. line up your feet square to the putter blade. look at the target twice and putt.
