Also, does anyone know around how long a ride it is from 14th st. to the JFK tram? Thanks!

The A train usually begins running express around 6AM.

With local service, 14 to JFK is about an hour and 20 min.

Express service, it is about an hour & 5

I agree with the above poster, 6am and about 1:15.

You can always check these things on www.mta.info (times for lines running express/etc. are listed at the bottom of the basic subway map) or www.hopstop.com (give start and end points and it'll provide subway directions and an estimated time.
