Of course, everyone knows illegal immigration is abundant in America, many against, many for.

But before we are so quick to pick a side and stick to it till the bloody end, why not examine both side's arguments and draw a personal conclusion, right?

First, before we may make accusation of people, we must set ourselves in their shoes and ask ourselves for a motive.

The crime: crossing the border. Motive: ?

Many would say the motive is for a better life. This is not so. In fact, most Mexicans crossing the border come here for three main things: life, freedom, and family

You see, in Mexico, who's government is grossly corrupt, hardly anyone is 'free.' you can find this pleasure easily in America.

In Mexico, death hovers amongst many. And if not death, surely the possibility. Poverty and hunger brings about this sort of thing.

And in Mexico, family is everything. If family is threatened, there is nothing that can stop the determination to fix family.

There is but one burning hope that can ensure the survival of life, freedom, and family. And that hope lies within the borders of America. "Surely anyone can do it the legal way," you say. But is that truly so?

Entrance into these United States requires chiefly knowledge of America (history, flag, states, cities, etc...), money, English skills, and time. The thing is, some Mexicans do not possess all of these requirements and to gain them would take even more time, which death surely does not wait for.

The longer the wait to America, the greater the threats on life, freedom, and family become. But most people would never leave these in the line of any threat. So they (ones who do not possess the requirements to enter legally) take the only option left that would ensure the survival of the three treasures.

So they look at the path. Pain, suffering, and death on one side yet hope and survival lies on the other. And what lies in obstruction? But of course, the law forbidding the secret entrance into America. When weighed on a scale of priorities, surely any person would take life, freedom, and family over the compliance with one law.

Now, you have stepped into the shoes of those desperate ones. Of course, there are those who wear a different pair and take to this land for selfish desire, but the majority of those desperate come here for the reasons I have explained.

Please, what are you thoughts?

Thank you Sergio for pointing out some of the frequently overlooked issues of those entering the US illegally. I am not sure what the answers are for them, for Mexico, or for the US. What I am sure of is that many people find it easier to complain than present solutions. As long as a wealthy country borders on a poor one, there will be illegal immigration. Here is my definition of the most miserable country in the world: The most miserable country in the world would be that in which the people have everything but are satisfied with nothing. They are poor in spirit and care not for volunteers to point out their blessings. The most impressionable thing there would be their lack of understanding and compassion for others. There are many "poor" countries in the world today.

Your entire rant means nothing.

It is only necessary to stop at the sentence...the crime, crossing the border. After that everything is merely your opinion.

Crossing the border illegally is a crime. Many criminals break the law to "make a better life". It does not make it legal. We have laws for a reason. We have immigration laws and quotas for a reason, as does EVERY COUNTRY in the world.

You can draw whatever personal conclusion you want, but it's still a crime to cross the border illegally Period. Thank God it seems we are cracking down on the illegal aliens a little more now. Hope it continues and accelerates..

The world is becoming overpopulated and more people are going into poverty and starvation every year. America is a relatively wealthy nation with room for growth and naturally people will look to America as a place to go to provide for themselves and their families. How many such people can America support? 10 million? 100 million? 1 billion? Draw the line where you see fit, the point is that just because we have compassion for the poor does not mean we can save everybody from poverty by bringing them to our country. This saddens me, as I'm sure it does you but you cannot save a horde of drowning souls by placing them on a small boat; you'll lose both the boat and the doomed people. Compassion in this world is a worthwhile pursuit, but it must be tempered with the proper application of wisdom and foresight. We are not a dumping ground for the world's disenfranchised and I would rather not drown in the metaphorical boat.

Nobody faults the REASONS you mention why they come. What the vast majority of the American public has the anger and heartburn over is the METHOD in which they do it.

Once here, many continue their LAWLESS lifestyles. Wow, I got in illegally. Cool! Let's use a fake name and sign up for free welfare! Let's use thirteen different names and get thirteen different checks! Awesome! Fake ID for just a couple hundred bucks, and a fake Social Security Card comes with it! Dude, I rock! I'm beating the system! Don't expect me to bother to get a driver's license or auto insurance. Life keeps getting better! Oh, why should I turn my music down out of respect for my neighbors? They're bigots anyway. My culture allows me to urinate in the street in front of women and children. You don't like that? You're a racist and need to learn how to accommodate to me. Better still! Wild and passionate sex, and anchor babies galore, with everyone paying the bills except me. Why live anywhere else?

Lawlessness breeds more lawlessness. Add a healthy dose of ENTITLEMENT, a spoonful each of RACISM, VIOLENCE and DISRESPECT for anyone different or intolerant of me doing my own thing, and you have this recipe for disaster.

This is the reality. This is the problem. Americans are FED UP and want action NOW.

This problem transcends race, ethnicity or religion. It is simply the rule of law and what is best for America, and the American people have spoken. Take the recent SCAMnesty bill. The Senate got reamed so hard they still cannot sit down.

Everyday hundreds of people cross our Southern border illegally. While we debate the "Amnesty" issue we lose another day to fund and close that border. The "Amnesty" thing is really a means to identify those that are here illegally and to give them an outside hope of getting papers. Unless each American citizen is willing to go to Catholic churches, public schools, clinics, round up any one that looks Hispanic, grab their children and hold them hostage to draw out other family members, you can never legally round up over ten million people spread throughout the USA. This is a genuine American nightmare and our feelings and opinions will define our character. Just look at all the volitile responses we are reading here. No one has a solution and our legislature can't get it done. So all we have is frustration and anger.

"why not examine both side's arguments and draw a personal conclusion, right?"

i'm waiting to see the other side's argument.

you've presented the same old song, again. did you forget about those of us who don't agree with you? or don't WE count? is this just another example of the 'raza' agenda, invade and supplant the legal, rightful inhabitants?

your portrayal of SOME of the illegals is truly pathos inspiring, however, think about this:

during one of the most extensive genocides in the 20th century, there were several hundred people who had the opportunity to escape. they were even on a ship, the ss st louis. they departed hamburg, in august 1939. suffice it to say, that even after exorbitant bribes were paid, the cubans, who had initially agreed to allow the passengers to land, changed their minds. the united states refused these refugees entrance to the country. canada refused them too. they were returned to germany, where many, if not all, died.

if you can show that your little drama compares to that, then perhaps i could buy into it. but, you can't, and you know it.
i'm sorry, but, after the boat people, the marielitos, the influx form vietnam, the hmong, all the iraqis who are coming here, the last thing we need is to now decide to pity the poor mexicans. i don't care if someone is from canada, from england, israel, or the bloody moon!! if they are here illegally, they need to be escorted out.

anything worth doing is worth doing right!

edit: and if they are soooo persecuted, let them apply, legally, for refugee status!!!

Here is the point. Crossing the border illegally is a crime. You said it yourself. If someone wants to come into the United States to live, then they should take the time to get the necessary permission and paperwork. If they are not capable to get these tihngs, then tough luck. Deal with it. America is not here to take in every single illegal that has issues with their native country. Stop complaining about how people treat you when you come into this country illegally, and stop complaining about people who make harsh statements against it. Citizens of this country have a right to be outraged when people come into the country illegally. You want to live in the United States....get the paperwork, get a job, and pay taxes just like everyone else.

Illegal is illegal. How can they expect a better life when the first thing they do is break the law. While I can understand some of the reasons you give, it in not our responsibility to save every poor person in the world. They come legally they are welcome. Illegally and they will be considered law breakers. The excuse of they only want a better life does not work. I want a better life also but I cant go rob and bank and say I only did it for a better life so its ok. We dont get to pick the laws that we dont like and ignore them.

The first word of their legal status here is "Illegal". It's very difficult to get past that, so you're going to the emotional side of the argument. No sale. They're still illegal. Justify that one and we'll talk.

I took the time to look at the 12 sources you list on many of your posts.
Let's break them down:

9 talk about how illegals pay taxes. That's fine...at what rate do they pay those taxes? By the rate they claim to have made while being paid under the table, or the actual rate? No one knows.

2 are Commentary/Blogs about taxes...ie;opinions.

One blog admits it's hard to track illegals so they really aren't sure of their own accuracy.

1 speaks to social security that illegals will never collect.
They shouldn't. They are illegal and don't belong here in the first place.

They came here illegally, and regardless of the hardships they have endured, at the end of the day...they are still illegal.
Those are my thoughts.
You asked.

o.k. this is th second time you posted this. so i will say again...
when you come here illegally you have made a choice.
for whatever reason you made that choice you must be willing to accept the consequences of that choice.
those consequences are....
1) no freedoms.
2) low wages
3) no free health care
4) no free education
5) no say in our government
6) always the possibility of arrest and deportation

these are just a few things that one must expect when you choose to sneak across the border.
if you are going to break the law then you must expect to be treated as a law breaker.
