Cruises are nowhere near like they were portrayed on the old TV program Love Boat. First off, you rarely see the captain. He usually makes an appearance and says a few words at one of the shows, in the dining room, and/or at the get togethers for frequent cruisers. m He gives no love advice but just talks about how the cruise is going, how fast the ship is traveling and the weather forecast. You most often hear him over the PA system but don't see him.

The pursers are actually more than one on each ship. When ships have 1500 to 3000 passengers they need more than one.

The doctor you definitely do not see unless you get sick. I went to the medical unit on one cruise, I had a cough, and the doc was an OK guy. Not weird,

Another thing, the cabins that most people get are no where as large as those on Love Boat. But they are nice.

OK so you ready to do a cruise?
