Well if you can prove descent from a Sept or Branch of that Clan or if you can prove descent from the Clan itself then Yes.
Proud Member of Clan Campbell, Clan Mackintosh,Clan Grant. Just contact the local Clan Society that you are applying for membership and have your documents ready or Try and Find that Clans orginization in North America or Scotland, or Australia or whatever country is your place of habitation, As for me it made more sense to Join the Clans here in North America then in Scotland, As it was about promoting Clan History and education here in North America, anyways I would suggest contacting the clan you want membership in. Hope this helps.

If your ancestors came from the Highlands of Scotland, you can find various clan organizations to join on the Internet. For example, I belong to a McDonald and a Macquarrie clan internet group because of both my maternal and fraternal ancestry.

You have to have family in an existing clan. You don't get to join. If you don't have any family who were or are clansmen, you will have to marry into one. I am a proud Buchanan clan member.
