Scriptures are a reliable source for wisdom in all things, not just salvation.

Though there is nothing we can do to buy salvation and is given as a gift, why would anyone give someone a gift for just laying around doing nothing? No active person, out accomplishing things has respect for the lazy. Why should we think God does?

In the past, God always has requirements and things for his people to do. He does now as well. Jesus told us the requirements his Father has to do His will.

No, the bible is not something anyone should rely upon for its truth value. The new testament was written some 30 years after the events took place, and was then passed down through more than 2000 years of being added to and revised by scholars and scribes with their own tales to add. It has been absolutely muntilated from its original form and is not trustworthy.

The scriptures in the Holy Bible are the only thing I would use.
It is the Holy Spirit that will lead you and guide you into all truth, for he is the way the truth and the life in Christ Jesus.

The only thing scripture can be used as a reliable source for is to show that the bible is self-contradicting and violent.
