Yes, in fact the military pays married service members more and they get out of work more often. Being single is a raw deal in the military.

if you are asking if an officer and enlisted can be married the answer is yes if they were married before 1996 or before they had a change in status (spouse of an enlisted becomes an officer while they are married).

Do you want to know if an officer and enlisted can marry each other?
The answer is NO! for the good conduct & order of the military!
No fraternizing allowed!
but, some people in the military have poor judgments and still do it, if they get busted, then there are consequences.

the only way an enlisted person and an Officer can be married is they can establish a prior relationship..

like a dual enlisted couple and one gets a commission, or if one is enlisted and the other a civilian, and the civilian gets a commission(or vice versa).

but absolutely NOT if they are in the same chain of command or otherwise are guilty of fraternization.

It's called "fraternization". An officer cannot be dating or be having sexual relations with an enlisted. Depending on which branch of the military it is, it could lead to a court martial of the officer under UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) Article 134.

There are exceptions and the regulations have just changed in each branch of service in the last few years so you need to be specific in your question.

But you may ask, why not? Well, because:

If an officer has relations with someone under his/her command and needs to send out his/her troops into battle (especially if the expected casualty rate is going to be high), the officer may try to not send his/her significant other into battle.

This causes conflict of interest; at best, there is resentment from the rest of the troops, and at worst, a breakdown in the integrity of the operational capacity of the fighting unit which could lead to higher causalities, breakdown in chain of command, or violence against such officer from the troops themselves (which is of course a court-martial offense but if you were a solder sent out to die in battle and another solder was pulled from the roster because he/she was the officer's mate, you may not care).

Yes, they can as long as the officer is not in the same command staff as the enlisted member. I have a MSgt that works with me that is married to a Captain in the intel world. There is nothing in the AFI that doesn't allow it.

You can be married. enlisted to enlisted or Officer to offficer, but not enlisted to officer. There is a conflict of duty. Chain of command and such.

Of course you can. When my in-laws got married, my father-in-law was a young Navy officer. And my nephew is a young enlisted Army guy and he is married too.
