how much money these "green"companies are making from the current global warming craze. To me it seems like this is a new gold mine for making quick dollars. I have a feeling people should be placing much more money and energy and resources into solving the oil crisis which will affect us much sooner and undoubtedly much worse than global warming will.

During the California and Alaska Gold Rushes, the people that made the most money were NOT the ones who discovered gold, but those that capitalized off of the hype, gladly taking the money from the frenzied sheep who seemingly couldn't get rid of their money fast enough.

Welcome to the Green Rush, people.

Are you against people making money, perhaps by doing some good?

Are you arguing that resources are being mis-allocated, and that you have a better notion of how to allocate resources than the current economy?

You're making an odd sort of argument, which is wrong on two counts:
1) global warming is quite possibly a very serious danger to the future of life on Earth and
2) deviations from a market economy by government taxation or regulation should only be done in the case of well-defined benefits to the public good (in the case of global warming, preventing our great-great-great-grandchildren from possibly frying to death).

Well it depends on the people's generosity to save the planet and not just for the money.. but true, they are making quick dollars and it's like a giant opportunity for big business and all that..............................

Hopefully some good guys out in the world still exist to save the world from the oil crisis and global warming and i want to be one of em, saving the planet and i wont care if i die poor.

I totally agree with you. We have our priorities all out of whack. It seems like people don't even care about oil that much for some reason. I hear lots of complaining but there are still gas-guzzlers all over the road, people still drive everywhere, soccer moms hauling their kids to 50 different lessons in 50 different neighborhoods in their Tahoes and Expeditions.

A little aside is that the government makes more money in tax dollars from gasoline sales than the oil companies do in profit.

Hi Ben, you are so right, but this is true with whatever the new "crisis or need" is. The bureaucracy which I believe is without reigns in the US, is so corrupt that, I'm not even sure you heard this one, they are "reselling" the trailers that the government bought for Katrina victims--trailers that with 100 percent certainty was probably bought from a cousin of GW with a kick back....FEMA purchased these trailers and they will not give them to the poor homeless in New Orleans--they are selling them to people in other states...........watch Lou Dobbs- he really investigates without too much prejudice all the injustices in this country..........my motto is-----"live for today, do what you can for tomorrow that is within your means, but don't be surprised if it never comes"

Oil is the cheapest form of energy and we will not be able to find a cheaper energy source anytime soon. Also, the so called green energy companies will probably turnout to be more harmful to the environment than the fossil fuel companies.

The reason these "green" companies exist is to create an awareness and an alternative to using Oil which in turn reduces Oil consumption and therefor reducing the environmental effects.

people are going to keep ignoring this problem anyway. the only way for someone to notice a problem is until the problem gets severe. the oil crisis is taking a toll on us because of the rising prices. people have started to cut down on their driving adventures.

Watch and see, it will be years before there are any calls for regulations, the one good things the more the nuts give to the liars, the less they will have to give to clinton or obama

Yea, the oil industry doesn't make 'any' dollars. Hyprocrite, or lobbyist.
