I have very sensitive skin. My face is red alot. I have large pores on my nose and under my eyes. Yes , i do use sunless tanner. My face is always greasy. Mostly, i dont like the pores. Pore minimizer products hurt and sting and havent worked on my. My dermo said it was from acne and to use differin. 6 months later, no change. THE QUESTION IS, what can i do to improve my skin on my face. WOULD microdermabrasion help??

Ok let me tell you all about it I am 23 and still have acne mine is genetic, my father had it really bad. So.....My skin is sensitive too and that is why we have acne. Was your face red before you used differin gel? or after....if it was before then you could have a form of rosacea which needs to be taken care of before you tackle the acne because anything that you use for the acne is going to be to harsh. If it is now red since you have been using the medication, you most likely have a chemical burn especialy if using pore minimizers arent working for you. I have had a chemical burn from using to much medcation that my dermo gave me. She had me using it to often and I would cry when i washed my face cus it hurt so much. You need not to use self tanner though I know you really want to because I used to do the exact same thing. It make our skin look better....trust me I know. Im sure you arent using a expensive top of the line brand of tanner so throw it away and stop using it. Mine made me brake out still even though I had good product. And If you wont stop using it I beg you please go into your nearest macys or dillards or what have you and go to the clinique counter or the lancome counter and ask to see the self tanner. Both brands are good ( do not use estee lauders). Truthfuly it really makes a difference with skincare when you spend more money I worked in cosmetics for years and it is always worth it to spend the extra money on your skin. Aslo I hope since you are using a self tanner that you arent baking yourself in the sun!!! Dont due it contrary to what people tell you the sun is not good for your acne. It is good to get a certain amount of sun a day, but doing daily activities like drving or taking out the garbage will give you all you need. Think of your skin like this......most people dont realize this p.s. Dont use drugstore crap it doesnt work for people who have moderate to servere acne !!! Dont waste your money or your time!...ok look at it like this acne is an inflamation, it is a irritation underneath the skin. Your skin has an infection in it. What would you do if your finger was infected ? Put medication on it and leave it alone and let it heal. You have to do that with your skin using minimal amount of products for people with real acne is necessary.. DoNOT be scrubbing your face with anything a scrub was cloth, the only exfolitor you need to use is one that is chemical. Which means it is usually in a cream or liquid state and is applied gently and either is rinsed off or left on. This help dead skin cells slough off without irritating the infection underneath. Yoouwouldnt scrub the heck out of your finger you would wash it gently to get it clean. Microdermabrasion is not an option for you now. It is a serious waste of your time. Your acne hasnt stopped so youll need it all the time to keep your skin smooth. Not even that most people wont do it on anyone who has open acne and again it isnt good for your skin if you do have acne. That is used for when you are finished with your acne and want to smooth your skin and lessen scars and me and you arent there yet. You need to talk to your doctor about dorax. That was the medicine I used along with a couple others I was using. Dorax is a pill and works wonders. It does have tetracylcine in it so it is necessary that you dont take more then subscribed. people with moderate to severe acne it usually starts from within so the pill really helps out alot. Cetaphil is good as a face wash. That is about the only worth while thing you could by at a grocery or drug store. Also dont worry about the poor size your analyzing your skin to much which I did to my pores are bigger then I like but that can be tackled later do not be using any poor minimizer products there not going to do anything for you except break you out and apparently burn you. Take on the acne first. I know it is hard it is hard for me still to im 23 years old and I have acne a moderate amount. ALso as you get older your acne will lower on your face. Adult acne on the lower half of your face so as you get older that might be a change you see when you hit your 20's. I hope your acne doesnt stay with you that long, but you might have to come to the terms that it might. It isnt the end of the world you are still an attractive guy. And women look past that trust me. Guys look past my acne theyll do the same for you. It doesnt make you any less of a person and dont forget that.
Try a different medicine if differin isnt working it didnt for me. There are alot of others out there. goodluck and stay handsome!

I too have very sensitive skin.. and thought I had Rocasea.. However, I starting using Cetaphil Skin Cleanser(creamy) which is available at any drugstore or chain store and I've has almost instant results.. My skin is no longer red/sore or greasy. I also as an exfoliator I use a bit of regular baking soda mixed with a bit of cleanser and my face feels soft and looks smooth.. Also, even though you may have "greasy" skin it's important to moisturise.. The self tanner maybe too harsh for your skin making it red and irriatated as well... Try a more gentle approach with your skin for a couple months and see if things improve... Good luck

If your skin is sensitive then microdermabrasion might just inflame it. Have you tried using organic skincare products? This might help if your skin is reacting to chemicals, there are lots of brands out there, you can get both make up and moisturisers etc. Burts Bees, miessence and aubrey organics are all quite good. You can get them on net or in some health food shops.
Your skin does look quite sore, I would stop using any harsh products and give up the fake tan for a bit and see if it improves.

try this cheap and easy trick. It may or may not work for you but for me it made my face less oily and cleared up my acne and even somewhat faded dark spots. Give it a try!
Asprin + Honey + Water
All you need is:
Two tablets of soluable Aspirin (any brand will do)
Water
Teaspoon To make the Mask: simply crush up the two tablets with water-approx 1 Tea Spoon of water to each tablet (this is how much I use and it seems to work for me-you can, of course, add more or less).
When the tablets have dissolved enough to form a paste apply to problem areas on face. I apply to my nose and chin, where my pores tend to be enlarged, or on any spot I may have.
Leave to dry for around 10 minutes-until it goes crusty (lovely!)-then rinse off with warm water.
Now, concentrate, here’s the ”science bit”: the reason the mask is so effective is because Aspirin contains a derivative of salicylic acid which is one of the main ingredients in conventional mass market anti-blemish treatments.
I love this mask because it is so cheap and it works for me!

You may have Rosasia. People with that usually have red face that is very oily.
If you have acne as well, try using one of the medicines that will dry up your skin a little more than the other meds you use. ...Maybe that'll help with the oiliness.
As far as pore minimizer: try using one that is made for sinsitive skin so it won't burn as much.

Well i think you should try a nude colored foundation but only use it if you have discoloration in your skin if not then you really don't need it. For your eyes use a small amount of black mascara but make sure to brush out any clumps so it looks like there naturally long. if you want to wear eyeshadow then make sure it's a light color like light pinks and browns for everyday, and grays for like parties and night looks. Also make sure you have pale pink lipgloss it makes anything look better.
