I am speaking from experience. My deceased husband served two tours in Vietnam and Korea. He came home and suffered years later with alcoholism and PTSD. Sure he was awarded VA benefits. But his disability rating was only 10%. He was diagnosed with heart problems. Than he died of three types of cancer. What I mean here is they are serving our country. They take the challenge of lesser pay and their families suffer lesser income. Why can't the government reward them better and pay them better for their service. I have an friend who was an Navy part-time duty for almost 30 years. She will only get half a pay check. What gratitude do we give our honorable veterans when they return ?

I absolutely agree! I'm a disabled veteran. I'm at 50% and it's still not enough. Not only is it not enough, you have a harder time trying to get it in the first place without the run-around. Our veterans should be set for life for all the outstanding work that we have done. So I agree with you 110%!

When folks notice the liveing conditions of military people is when young folks start getting jobs that pay decent wages..ever notice that..?
When moneys ARE allocated to military personel , regardless wether for current vets, or past vets, there is an equil addition of burrocrats added simultainously , who then are payed out of THAT allocation...consequently, the boy's on the line get fuukued..cause the congress has just pizsed it all off on more constituents. Ever notice THAT..?
EVERY TIME something like Walter Read occures, there is a little stink, some more money is appropreated, and some more burrocrats get hired, and the congress and president make a pompus show of generosity, and the public feels apeased, and every thing quickly blows over. Have you noticed THAT...?
The shame of it all is how gullible we the voteing public are in 'regard' to / of our government, so much more so than to / of our people. This government no longer serves 'us', it serves it's own proliferation, it's own agendas, it's own welfair, it's own industrys, it's own infrastructures, it's own interests. Have you noticed that?
One need only too have known the last two elections to see that. 'WE' the people probably didnt even elect this president in the first place,..and his second term was a dramatic matter of inconvienance.
I dont expect this next presidency to 'fix' the pay scales for military personel ether...they will just down size the military, and the burrocracy, and the international industrialization, and many other federal funded pork projects, then, tell us how well they are doing, and then , vote themselves another raise.
Some day, they will have a war, and nobody will come. Some day they will have an election and only the burrocrats will vote.
I say PAY THE BOY"S WHO PAY THE PRICE OF being an american. ..
.. and first and formost.. FREESE THE CONGRESS PAY 'AND' BENNIFITS untill 'we' the people decide otherwise.
That will shake things up... i guaruntee!!!

While the pension Military pension system in most countries varies greatly.

The real question is will the Tax-payers be happy at having to foot the bill for more money to be paid to veterans, I doubt if the politicians will volunteer to donate their big annual pay-rise to the veterans.

angelika, its still happening. but they have been getting caught lately. they will do as little as they can to appease the veterans and the public.
that is why they are having a hard time recruiting. the word is out. they have had veterans rioting throughout history. now you know why.
these presidents always appear so solemn and pious when they are putting these flags on graves in the national cemeteries. they like the dead ones the most.

They deserved to be paid better. Congress sets their pay. Write your Representatives in Congress asking want can be done to give these deserving men better pay. But I wouldn't count on them getting one though. See Congress just gave themselves a hefty pay raise so thats where the money went instead of the deserving military men. These men need to be honored now with better pay, not when they're dead with words.

I agree. Not only do military members not get paid enough, but neither do police, firefighters, or teachers.

No, they do not get enough credit, finanically or otherwise. They diserve much more, but in all reality, I dont think they can ever be repaid enough for what they've done :(

I agree because it's not easy. They don't even know who they are helping but they still do it because they know it makes people happy.
