Gosh.. I'm from a muslim family and *I* feel uneasy if there are several scary looking bearded muslim men on the same plane i'm flying on :D
Ofcourse, no one gets scared of me because I don't act scary nor do I have an unkempt beard.

I have only flown a handful of times since 911, and only once was anyone on the plane that appeared to possibly be Muslim. And I didn't really think anything of it, it seemed to be a married couple and their toddler. In all honesty, I can't say what might go through my head if I were to see a group of what looked like Muslim men, but I do know this: I would be uneasy about anyone of any race if their behavior was strange in any way.

Well, in light of whatever has been happening all over the world, yes I will be a little anxious....but I will hold it in and not try to think much of it, without enough proof. I am half-muslim myself. I'd have to watch their behavior, but even behavior isn't too reliable. appearing nervous or restless might have many reasons...! Maybe they are introverts, and seeing so many people's gazes on them makes them uncomfy! How can anyone jump to a conclusion.
ps: even innocent muslims have become targets when people see them and I feel bad for them actually. the fact that they are being watched would be anxiety-provoking to anyone.

Well, thats a tough question. As a Black woman, I understand what its like to be judged strictly on appearance. However, while I don't condone treating me a certain way because of how I look, I can't blame you for how you think. I can't blame you for thinking that its possible I might be a b*tch or violent, because I know that some Black women are. I know that music, tv, and movies portray us a certain way, and that many of us act on that because we dont have enough beliefs and valuse to think for ourselves. The same goes for any culture and any group. It is normal for you to think a certain way about a group, at least initially, because you have no other deciding factor than what you were told by someone or something else. On the other hand, everyone deserves the respect due to from one man (or woman) to another. How you treat them should be based on what you know is factually true, not what you perceive.

I don't, but I'm rare. I only get nervous if there is someone on the plane and THEY look overly nervous. Race doesn't come into play.

Nope. The ONLY racially profiled group that worries me- are people with piercings. My theory is; anyone who feels the "need" to put any more holes in their heads, is probably "missing" something that could keep us all from getting killed!
