You should probably take a couple years to properly prepare for such a trip. First you'll want to save enough money to purchase a proper touring bike, panniers, tent, stove, rain gear, and the other camping gear you'll need to have a comfortable and safe trip.
Then you'll want to research online and plan a safe quick route that will take you through towns where you can obtain water (There's no place on your bike for 30 pints of water), food, bicycle maintenance and repair as needed. I would imagine that the spring or fall would be better times to travel through the desert south west than the summer. Your route will also have to include spots for legal and safe camping every night or otherwise obtain permission to camp in local parks or on private property.
And when you get to California, then what are you going to do, you have to have a job and place to stay lined up beforehand, otherwise you'll just be a bum sleeping on the beach?

you funny.
Your going to ride your bike across the US southwestern desert in August with 20 bottles of water? You'll run out of water the first day.
If your lucky you will be able to do 200 miles a day. It's roughly 1200 miles - so 6-7 days and you'll be there.

if you are using it as a runaway device with no plans about what will happen in Cali, then no.
If you are talking about is the trip possible, yes but you are not equipped properly, you didn't mention anything about being able to perform maintenance to the bike which WILL breakdown during a trip that long. also $30 is nothing. what happens when you run into a thunderstorm and want to get a room to get out of the rain.

16? Good luck with that! That's such a bad idea its not even funny. Just finish out High School and the go do your own thing when your 18. You wont get far in life if you pull a stunt like this at your age. Keep your head up, it will get better eventually.

should be alright...you might get hit by a lorry. and id take a few more water bottles to be safe, and you might want a tent or something. if you want to get away from your parents...just go on a camping holiday or something...

I think you should stay with your parents. When I was 15 I ran away to DC and I was hurt very badly emotionally and physically. All I wanted to do was be with my family again. Please dont do it...you'll regret it. Im 21 now and Im still emotionally scarred after what happened to me.
