I think it's because by nature a woman is not normally open to infidelity whereas a man is. The role of a woman in producing children and being a mother is also another deterent for society to accept infidelity in women.
Paternity issues have been known to cause a lot of complications and very often the ones who suffer are the children involved.
However, these days infidelity among women is very common as women become more liberated but it is still much less than among men.
We have many cases of infidelity in women in our help center.

i don't believe that's as true as it once was.there was a time when it was thought of as normal but, now a women is not expected to ignore infidelity nor is a man. society has changed in that aspect. the only people that think that way are those who are older or from a different culture.

You have correctly identified that there is a double standard when it comes to the behavior of men and women. However, I don't think that anyone should be taking advantage of the "liberty" of cheating on a spouse. Instead of allowing women to cheat, we should be preventing everyone from doing it.

Unfortunately this is somewhat true. It could be because some women are dependent on their husbands, and have no choice but to forgive and forget. It also could be that women love with all their hearts and when you love someone that much, it's hard to let them go. I don't know but it really stinks.

It's jacked up!!!! But as you stated women have hearts too, and it's about how much you are willing to put up with. My husband would go out on me and I'd sit home, but I got fed-up and started to turn the tables on him. Yes, there were fights, yes, his ego was bruised, yes I got called all kinds of names, and yesm sometimes I felt bad, but my heart hurted as well, and like Lauryn Hill said " Fanstasy is what we want- reality is what we need."

In some cultures it's acceptable. I've NO idea why.
I've never ignored infidelity, but I have made the rotten bastards pay for it.

I don't know any women who would ignore their husband's infidelity unless they were retarded.
