Who cares about the little brats anyway. What is important is that we follow Jesus.

Assuming God is benevolent, he would not allow priests to abuse children. It does not make sense otherwise, does it?
I on the other hand believes that he is indifferent to mankind. That explains how he can allow all of the suffering and death in the world. Perhaps he created us, gave us some lessons, and left us to our own devices.

God gave man free will, without which man could not truly love God. However, man can misuse that free will, including twisting something that might be good, such as religion, into something that is evil. Until someone can show that a universe with love (even though it entails the possibility of evil) cannot be better than a universe without love (even though it entails no possibility of evil), then the "problem of evil" argument will always falter. It is not God who caused the human suffering and so forth, but man's misuse of free will.

Because any priest who would use his position of power in a negative way is not a true priest. And it's not just priests, either. Boy Scout leaders, ministers of other churches, dirty cops, Congressmen/women, right up to the highest office in the land.... all these people have been given power and the temptation to abuse it is too much for some. Personally, I believe there's a special place in hell for people who abuse power - especially priests and ministers since they have been given a special gift and have turned their backs on it. Trust me, they will pay for it.

For the same reason He allows you to continue in YOUR sin.
Look, you may not like the answer, but let's face it - you want God to stop OTHER people from committing THEIR sins, but you don't want God to stop YOU from committing YOUR sins.
Don't say that their sins are worse than yours. I would like to ask you 4 personal questions, and if, in all honesty, you have to answer "yes" to all four, well (wait till after the questions and I will continue this thought) ...
1. Have you ever told a lie?
2. Have you ever taken something that didn't rightfully belong to you?
3. Have you ever looked at another person with sexual desire (ie lust)? (Jesus said you are already guilty of adultery if you look with lust on another person)
4. Have you ever been so angry with another person that you wished bad things against them? (Again, Jesus said that you are already guilty of murder if you hate another person)
If you had to say "yes" to these 4 questions, that makes you a lying, thieving, adulterous murderer.
If God were to judge you strictly by the 10 commandments, realizing that if you break even one, you are guilty of all, would you come up clean, or would you have to plead guilty?
Well, the thing is, God allows us to live with free will because that is what makes us higher than the animals. It also makes us morally responsible before a righteous and holy God, who will judge ALL people.
Again, I ask, why didn't God stop YOU? After all, you want God to stop others.

Priests are human and have free will, just like any other individual. Priests do what they choose to do, whether it be to hurt children or not hurt them, just like any other individual. God doesn't have anything to do with Priests hurting children.

we are all children in the eyes of god...so why do any of us ever get hurt? it is called the life and times of the human being and right now this is how far our culture [worldwide] has sunk with the indifference to morality that we have to rob some of their innocence to make ourselves feel good

God did not allow this to happen. Sinful men chose to commit this evil in direct defiance of God's will.

Everything God does is for a reason. This just confirms that everybody that we think are going to heaven is not really going at all.

Well, more importantly, how can his agents on Earth feel justified to enable child rape? If leaders of organized religions remotely reflected the face of God, we would all be in big trouble.
But luckily--and pretty transparently--these are people who seek power in THIS life, even as they preach about the next...revealing their religion to be man-made.

Because we are not in paradise yet. We continue to be under the influence of Satan and his demons so many bad things happen. What you speak of happens in other religions as well.
