I agree with you; some avatars reveal the person behind them, so when I see one that's a swastika, or a naked person, or something else designed to shock and/or offend, I realize that I'm dealing with an immature(at least) individual.

Only those who have pornographic avatars. I judge them to be ignorant, crude and disrespectful--and imagine that's a reflection of who they truly are. As for the rest, no--I mean, I'm a kitten, but it doesn't reflect who I am, except maybe to insinuate that I love animals. Which may or may not be true. (Okay, it's true! LOL)
Edit: Ok, I'd like to amend my answer. I also would have to agree with Jack. Some avatars do reveal certain predjudices.

All in all, an avatar is just a mask that people wear on the Web... So judge the people for what they stand for and say, not their avatar.

Yes, and I should really know better considering how I'm nothing close to my avatar. However, I've come to accept that judgment is a part of life. It's not like I hold it against them permanently or anything. It takes a lot to offend me.

I really enjoy the various concepts in avatar design and quite often, I believe that the avatars do represent the person,to a large degree...as far as judging whom I believe the person to actually,represent...I listen to the words that they speak...what is in the heart of a person, will eventually spill out of their mouth. No one can fool the crowd forever, not even the silly trolls

I judge on the quality of the answer. However, I have been judged on my avatar and it is from a TV show from the 80's go figure

Not always, but I bet you can get a light hint at my personality from mine - I think it is really sincere in how I fell about a particular president.
But -other than that - most of them are plain jane book covers that don't give you a clue about the person, some are there to create deception, on & on ...
So in general - no.

Every time I get a violation notice, I change one piece of the avatar (and this avatar looks NOTHING like the one I started with).
