(14 yr old boy)
At youth group/school I am the only one who wears a necklace, a bracelet and boxer shorts that you can see if I bend over.Out of all the mormons (in my youth group/school) I am it. It has always been like this. And I have been mormon all my life, so have all them.

I am more helpful in service to others than the other kids. (kinda makes me an outsider, kinda) And most if not all the members who know me would say that I am a very loving boy.

Well most LDS boys don't wear necklaces. I don't know that there is anything wrong with it, the prophet has said that boys should not get earrings other than that, it is your choice. I think Jewelry, with the exception of wedding rings, is kind of sissyish on guys, or it makes them look kind of sly like a used car dealer or something- that is just me though.

As for the thing with the boxers we are admonished to dress modestly- our body is a temple. Boxers sticking out of the pants is kind of sloppy and not really that modest. Just try to be modest. Other than that, I would really have to know your personality to know how you are different from other boys.

As for the idiots on here who are saying to leave the church and be a normal person, don't listen to them- they don't know what they are talking about.

Well the neck lace and bracelet are just fashion choises and others might not want to wear them because they just dont like it. But letting your boxers be able to be seen is a voilation of the law of chasity where it talks about inapropriate dress. (the For the Strength of Youth book has some of that info in it.) Those are typically the reasons.

I don't know. We have boys in our ward who have worn dread locks, earrings, goatees, and a white shirt and tie with blue jeans and running shoes, and passed sacrament. One of my friends said that the boy with the dread locks was one of her most spiritual students in Sunday School.

BTW, what's the deal about boxers? My boys wear boxers, never had a problem.

Dress modestly and you wouldn't be such an outsider. Quit dressing like a hoodlum.

Well apparently you think for yourself sometimes and they don't.

But I wouldn't brag about the boxer thing. That is the single stupidest fad in history. Its even worse than the Chia Pet.

I presume that if you are LDS, then at 14 you hold the Aaronic Priesthood, and the office of a teacher.

It would also be fair to assert that your contemporaries, if as you say they are also LDS, may hold the same priesthood you do.

Tell them they are dishonouring this priesthood, and ask them if they believe this is what Jesus would do!

I'm not familiar enough with Mormon culture to answer that question. You might be dressed more contemporary than your Mormon colleagues who happen to be more conservative in nature. That's my hunch.

You're more into fashion and self expression than they are. In fact, its important enough to you that you exhibit it despite peer pressure. I don't mean to be rude or mean, but when fashion and self-expression are really, really important to a guy it sometimes indicates that he is gay, or possibly a natural-born artist, or very often, both.

Sorry, just my impression based on the limited scenario you've described.

They are taking their relegion seriously.... you aren't.

So just to be safe you might want to say a little prayer at night that God isn't a Mormon or your screwed.

Will you still be wearing them on your 2-year mission?
