Since your traveling by bus, you won't need a passport. A passport is always good to have because it is the most recognized form of identification, but it's not necessary to have right now. If you have a birth certificate for yourself, bring that along just in case. Your mom and sister can bring their passports. Heres a link for all required documents.

Rules governing the entry of foreigners are subject to change and you should check with the relevant authorities close to the time you will be making a crossing. Generally crossing this border is straight-forward and will include going through immigration customs both ways. The biggest hassle is usually the length of the queues, so consider avoiding peak times such as public holidays and the start and end of the working day.

Ensure you have the necessary papers.
Identification papers such as a passport or birth certificate are recommended. A passport is best, but only required if you're flying. A drivers licensee is not valid proof of residence.

your mom and sister are fine with just passports.

I don't understand what you mean - you do have a passport but under your dad's name? It sounds like thst means its yours but with his last name - different from mom and sis?

If you don't have one, you'll need a birth certificate (usually with some knid of official photo ID as well, but travelling with your family you should be okay with just the certificate).

but If you have a passport, use it.

You have to have a passport to go between Canada and the USA now. You used to only need a birth certificate or drivers license, but not anymore. Thank you Osama Bin Laden.
