You need to use a color wheel to select colors that will complement your existing furniture.

I had a house like that; it was an L shape Living room, Dining Room, kitchen.

I painted the living room a nice creamy yellow. One wall of the dining room was yellow. The back wall was a neat green that flowed into the kitchen. I would use the yellow and green. It will look great with your tan and brown. Accent w/throw pillows, rugs, picture frames...sounds like you have everything already.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get you a bunch of color swatches in the paint dept. Then take them home and see which 2 go togehter and with your other furniture. This is a good way to pick the correct shade. Most of all, have fun. Decorating shows your personality and creativity!
Good Luck
