hi All,

I daughter has been eating tosat for a while now. But i want her to start eating jell/butter snadwiches or grilled cheese. How do I give her this. Do i cut em' into small pieces? Also grilled cheese - is it just the grilled cheese that adults eat? or do i prepare it in a different method? Sorry if i'm sounding dumb...I'm still learning.

You are not dumb! When it comes to grilled cheese make it like you do for yourself. Cut it into very tiny pieces so she doesn't choke. The smaller the better if she doesn't have a lot of teeth. My best kitchen friend is a pizza cutter-you can cut everything tiny with it. Jelly and butter is great, just cut the same as with the sandwich. Don't go PeanutButter until she is two in case of allergic reactions.
Good luck and have fun trying new foods.

Use cheese that is pasteurised, so cheddar, red Leicester, catherdral city, it doesn't really matter.
Please do no tuse peanut butter until two years old, I don't like that one person told you to do this because she did it with hers at nine months, that's just incredibly stupid- why risk your baby at such a young age...my daughter has had a reaction at the age of five months, after I followed 'advice' that didn't sit well with me, and it was frightening- huge welts everywhere, swollen lips, I was scared! That's the first time I had ever been in an ambulance...
So no peanuts!
But all the rest- go for it!

No peanut butter!!!! That could get stuck to the back of the throat. Grilled cheese is just fine but NO PEANUT BUTTER. And you are not dumb you are still learning

Fix the sandwiches as you would for yourself, but break it up into small pieces, so she won't choke. My kids didn't eat bread until they were close to two, because I had the fear they might choke, since they didn't have that many teeth & had to gum it. Use Amercian cheese on her grilled cheese, but use the thin slices, as it's not going to be quite so cheesy & hard to eat. Watch her carefully, so she won't choke & make sure she has a drink near her. (the mom in me is still coming out)

For jeally toast just lightly toast the bread and put a THIN coating (it's messy! Plus, they don't need lots of sugar) on and then slidce it into thin strips or small swuares. Grilled cheese can just be what we call cheese toasties--melt a slice of cheese on bread (no butter needed) and then cut into strips or squares.

She's going to love it!

Hi,

I would not give her peanut butter until she is older. Peanuts can cause a severe allergy in young children. My god daughter had a severe allergic reaction to them the first time she ate them. There are lots of things you can give her instead.
With any new food that you introduce just give her a little and wait and see if she has a negative reaction. If she is fine then give it to her again.

Hope this helps

No peanut butter, kids have choked on this too easily, small bites of grilled cheese should be alright.

american cheese, you can give her a grilled cheese sandwich. cut it up for her and see is she likes it. she can have jelly and butter and all kinds of stuff as long as you watch to make sure she is not having an allergic reaction.

Those should be fine just no peanut butter until age 2. Try cutting them up in small pieces so she can pick them up herself. At this age she can pretty much eat anything you eat as long as you give her small portions. I have a picture of my son at his 1st birthday party eating a chicken drumstick. He had all of his teeth by then and he was very greedy. Now I can't pay him to eat.

no peanut butter until you know for sure your child doesn't have a peanut allergy...talk to your pediatrician about peanut allergies because they are very serious. They are more common than most people think and in some cases, have led to severe complications with the throat swelling very rapidly.
