Can you set up an excel macro to launch a file?

I have an excell worksheet that I need to add a hyperlink to a powerpoint file using the viewer (not the full app). I linked it but I keep getting a (no program is registered to open this file error).

On my other computer, it launches the program using the full blown powerpoint.

Hi,

When you use a hyperlink to open a file, the computer will use whatever program is associated with that file extension.

If you want the PowerPoint player to open the file, you first have to tell the operating system to use the PowerPoint player for that file type.

The exact steps to associate files are different for each operating system, but you can check the help files about how to do it.
