You need to taalk to your mom first. She needs to understand that your just not looking for a boyfriend right now. Then you need to tell the guy that your not looking for a boyfriend right now and maybe you and him could just be friends.

Let's face it, there really is no "nice" way to tell him that you're simply not interested in him. Think about how you would want someone to tell you they're not interested in you, when clearly you like them. Hard isn't it?

One option is to say something like "We make pretty good friends." and hope he takes the hint, but this would not be my first suggestion. I would be honest with him from the getgo. Let him know that although you're flattered you just arn't ready to build a relationship yet and you're focusing on other goals right now.

There is no such thing as a nice way to turn someone down, so be honest and polite about it. Hope that helped.

In this type of situation, you are left in a rather uncomfortable circumstance. If you want to avoid hurting the guy's feelings, you should initially make him aware that the reasoning behind your denial of being his girlfriend has nothing to do with him as a person. At the present time, you are currently too preoccupied and trying to remain focused on other relevant tasks, whether it be school or work.

First you need to have your mother to stay out of your love life. I am sure she means well, but it puts you "on the spot" like you are now. The best thing you can do is explain to the guy in question is that while you are honored he would consider dating/going out with you, you really aren't looking--your mother is. Explain it has nothing to do with him personally, but your life is hectic right now and that you are not interested in starting up a relationship. Basically, almost the truth. (You may want to leave out the part that he isn't your type :) )

Tell them BOTH that you can only do one thing good and right now you have a project that seems to be taking all your mental faculties to complete. When you are finished with it, in maybe 6 or 9 months you may start to look for a relationship. You want to give all you energies to bring each project and activity to a sucsessfull conclusion.

(That will give you a 6 or 9 month breathing space. Good Luck.

It worked for me once, and got this god aufull girl out of my life.

Tell him exactly like you did above. He should understand. You could also go on one date. On the date explain that you don't have time for relationships now and can go out at most once a month and don't expect to be ready for anything more for YEARS at least. This way Mom feels like you gave it a shot, while the guy doesn't feel like you're rejecting him. It would be polite to pay for half, or at least offer to.

Best bet is to explain to him that he's a cool guy but you a really full plate, whether it be classes or work or whatever. You don't want to hurt his feelings, so tell him you don't think it'd be fair, to either of you, for you to be involved in a relationship right now because you simply cannot make it a priority.

Tell him you just got out of a serous relationship and that you 2 are trying to work things out. Tell him thank you for the compliment of being intrested but you are really serious about trying to work things out with your ex. Its a nice way of saying no without his feelings getting hurt.

Just let him know that your in a place right now in your life, that is really busy and your trying to focus on that. Tell him, it is nothing against him, but you don't want to waste his time.
