Lets be honest here. Is there a lot of 'hype' around these days.

I can't speak for anyone but myself. My faith in God is based on a real, vital relationship with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and God the Father. Even if I lived in a place where there was no church to attend, I would still study the Bible and use it as the template for my life. I would still pray, which with me is an ongoing conversation with God, and try to live my testimony out in my day-to-day dealings with others.

My "motivation" is love and gratitude to Jesus, but my faith is much, much more than that. "Hype" doesn't last. A person who "converts" due to the type of "hype" you're talking about, drops out the minute there's the least bit of pressure from others or conflict between the new code and things he or she would rather do.

I've been a believer for 15 years. My entire life has been transformed, and I wouldn't even want to go back to the way things were before. I'm happier, more centered, and more pleasant to be around than I was then. And eternity looks pretty good too.

Yes I expect there is a lot of hype but the bible tells us that Jesus is the way the life and the truth and no man comes to the father i.e God except through him. I accept that Jesus paid the price for my sins and that I am forgiven. This does not mean that I can do what I like, it means that I have sinned and as all man kind have fallen short of the glory of God, but that God has forgiven me as I have repented (said that I am sorry) for what I have done and still sometimes do.

Ferretism is a whole lifestyle experience that goes beyond the falsehoods spouted by the more 'accepted' religions.

Of course, it is. My religion motivates me surely, otherwise what's the point?

But it is everything not "nothing but."

I guess so, but I have no religion and I am still motivated in my life.

My religion tells me that God loves me and wants me to come home to him. Atheism tells you there is nothing and you are going nowhere. Which are you?

It's definitely motivational. But I wouldn't say that's all it is.
