Yes.

They were the True Muslims. Who if Gained power would have spread Islam the same way it was done 1400 years ago, because they followed the same principles as Muhammad (PBUH).

Ignore Terry G & Sarah J- there not true Muslims, Their names are borrowed from Kaffir like their thoughts, or they are just muslims outwardly but ignorant to truth and want to formulate their own version.
The west has polluted their minds.

EDIT:

Saira is the Islamic version not Sarah. Both in spelling and pronunciation, and the entire purpose being to illustrate it's meaning is also different.
Just like Maryam, not Mary. Just like christians are named Mary and you then know it's a christian, and Maryam is a muslim.

At least Terry g admits she is not using an Islamic name.
She also admits to not following Islam Correctly, as I'm trying to say:

Evidence: see terry's answer, who does not even follow the sunnah.

and see 'MUHAMMAD'S' answer to this question who is a 'genuine' muslim to a good extent and knows his stuff.
Whereas others even admit they don't bother reading/following the Prophets (PBUH) sunnah.

Hello sweetie! First off, thank you for asking about my religion... It's nice to know that there're people actually willing to seek info about Islam rather than stay ignorant, so I respect you for that...
I don't know much about taliban, so I can't say if they are right or wrong or whatever, but what I do know is that Islam honors women and highly respects them. I can't give you false information, because in Islam lieing is a big deal and a Huge sin... I am a muslim girl, and I often catch myself thanking Allah (GOD) for setting everything clear on how women should be treated with honor.
I know someone who could answer any of your questions about Islam, Yousef Estes converted to Islam and practically dedicated his life to clearing the misconceptions of Islam. I'll leave you with his website and some video links I think you'll like, he's such a sweet guy.. :) plus I'll leave you with a video link for him talking about Women In Islam ... http://www.watchislam.com/videos/index.php?catid=15
http://islamtomorrow.com/
I personally like his story when he came to Islam..

Well hope this helped you.. take your time in watching or reading the links. I really do hope this helps.
Peace!

Asalam alaikum, sister.

Women in Islam are respected very much. People say that Islam is completely against women, but that is wrong. It is haram (forbidden) to hurt anyone, no matter who they are. Islam is the fastest growing religion, as you may know. Women are going to Islam because it gives them so many rights. If Islam degrades women, then why are two thirds of the people accepting islam women?! The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) said that the best of believers are the ones who treat their mothers and wives kindly. Women have a very high status in Islam!

If you want to know more about women in Islam go to www.youtube.com and look at the scholars: Dr. Zakir Naik, Dr. Bilal Phillips, Dr. Abdur Raheem Green, Yusuf Estes, Khalid Yasin, and Feiz Muhammad. Masha Allah they are brilliant!

The video link here is a lecture by Dr. Zakir Naik

Here is another link on beating wives in Islam (which is forbidden) . It's by Dr. Abdur Raheem Green.

Thank you for your time.

Salam.

Its funny how non-Muslims know who we Muslim women are treated even though they don't live with us.

Anyway to answer your question:
Muslim women are SUPPOSED TO BE (key words) treated with respect, love, kindness and all that and more. HOWEVER what the Taliban does is NOT ISLAMIC at all. The people in the Taliban are really sick people actually.
There is a verse that talks about couples and how they are a garment unto each other, and they take care of each other equally.
Muslim women are not oppressed.
We are not obliged to clean, cook, or work for our husbands, we do it because we take pride in taking care of our family and pleasing God. We do it because we love our families. We have the right to be educated and are encouraged to be.
We have the right to work.
We have the right live, love, be with our children, go out with our friends and live a wonderful life.
Muslim women are free and looked up to in the society.
"Heaven lies underneath the mother's feet" ~ prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
We are the mothers of the believers.

Islam says that women are to respected, honored and loved. Any Muslim who does anything else is not following Islam properly. The Taliban does it's own thing and does not represent the majority of Muslims.

OMAR- How exactly is my name Kaffir? It's my nickname, Theresa is my GIVEN name and I do have a Muslim name that only my husband calls me by. Grow up, you hateful troll.

Islam was really radical in it's early years, with ideas that women and men were equally valued in the eyes of God, that they should be educated and be helpmates to each other.

In keeping with the faiths that came before, men, in Islam, are the keepers and maintainers of their women. That is, the primary responsibility for making sure there is a roof over the head, food on the table and clothes on the back falls to men. Women take up the roles they do in marriage as a matter of their own choice, to promote marital harmony. Doing good works for your spouse is as worthy (if not moreso) than doing good works for the widows and orphans.

You have to separate both the culture from the religion, and the people from the religion. People always fall desperately short of the ideals of their religion, and culture is the product of Man, not of God.

Facts:
Women are abused everywhere.*
Domestic violence exists everywhere**
We live in a male dominated society***
Muslim women in eastern countries are abused****

However where Western women have achieved freedom in many aspects of there life eastern women have not.
Why is that? CULTURE!
people make the mistake of mixing culture with religion all the time. Islam does not say to treat women badly , Islam says that both are equal. Hijab is mandatory for women but if they do not wish to wear it there husbands can't force them to wear it because its between them and God. Muslim women get 1/2 of the inheritance because in Islam men is the one who is responsible for money and food and shelter, women get to keep there money. Islam lets women have careers and every freedom.
but where there is good there is also bad.
Muslim countries men treat women as second class citizens.
Even in Pakistan, I used to live there till I turned 12 then we moved. I remember never wanting to get married lol

Arabic societies are highly male dominated.
However it is not in Quran to treat women that way. Quran puts heaven in feet of mother. It is there culture.
My mom tells me things that I can never find in Quran anywhere. Like When I wanted to go and get my Harry Potter 7 book at midnight she said it is a waste of time and money and Quran says not to waste money. but how is buying a book waste of money? Quran says to show that God has given you.
anyway Muslim women need to fight! because if you remember before 1800 something western women were treated the same way. They were not even allow to talk in church until there husband guardian gave them permission too. Women civil right movement came AFTER civil war.
Education is the key. Most Muslim women since not educated don't even realize that they are being abused since they saw there mom treated the same way and there grandma and so on. They need to learn that God has given them rights. EDUCATION IS THE KEY

OMAR_X786: Terry g. and Sarah are double the muslims you'll ever be or ever were.

Islam views women as the human, social, intellectual, and spiritual equals of men. Not superior. Not inferior. Equal.

This does not mean that women and men are the same or identical biologically or physically. It means that women are not less human, less intelligent, less worthy of human dignity and respect, or inferior to men because they happen to be female. Men must never consider themselves inherently superior to women because they are male. They have no "special" or "Divine" connection with Almighty God for being male. Women have direct access to The Almighty, just like men.

Islam says you are to treat them like your "TILTH" like a farmer with his field *not everyone is a good farmer*
Taliban tried to follow something that was around 1428 years ago that was applied to that day and time for a specific reason and time.
We have way more than they ever had, but yet we use so little of it.

Ask a Muslim lady how is she treated.

Taliban had their own version of treatment after battling the Communists for over 10 years.

The Communists had their own version of feminism which introduced prostitution and other social illnesses.

The Taliban became reactionary and did not follow the middle way of Islam.

Yes. The Taliban were doing the Islamic thing for the women. That is how they should be treated in real Islam.
