My question is : why don't they ever walk them?? :)))
I rarely meet a well balanced pitbull.
It could be my fault though, as we don't frequent run down hoods.

The experts have seen these dogs working in the different sports that are offered for dogs.. they have great abilities in tracking, obedience and agility and protection.

Thats it folks... AND those of us that are in the sport do NOT travel to the ***hoods*** to train... Our club trains at the airport.

SO THERE

I don't live in the hood and pitbulls aren;t only walked in the hoods... I walk my dog ALL the time, she loves to go "bye bye". The problem is other people have the problem, so most owners just avoid confrontation and try to keep their dog out of public, not to mention most cities and towns have laws against them. Someone might see your pitbull and not even know it's a pitbull and think what a cute little friendly thing, but if you are walking it with a muzzle on, as most places now require, then people are automatically going to be a little nervous about coming near it. I refuse to put a muzzle on my pitbull and I only take her out where I don't have to have one on her. Pitbulls are usually not very friendly towards other animals as they feel a little bit of a need to protect their owner, property, and themselves... so another dog can be intimidating for them. Pitbull owners should always introduce their dogs to other dogs and animals when they are still a puppy and train them and keep them used to it. It's not the people that love their Pitbulls that you need to worry about, it's the people that don't.

I have a college education, and am working on my masters degree.

I hold a professional job that pays well for the area I live in.

I live on 400 acres of inherited farmland in rural America - a century farm as you would call it.

My domestic partner is retired from a professional position and is well-respected in our community - as is all of his family.

Both my partner and I attend church on a regular basis.

That doesn't sound like a run-down hood and I don't include myself with the kind of people who would frequent run-down hoods either.

Yet, for some reason, I have a wonderful blue-nose pit bull who is the apple of my eye. He's the sweetest thing on 4 white paws and I trust him with my partner's severely handicapped grandson (mentally challenged) and his other grandchildren as well (both under 6 years).

Baby Blue is gentle, cuddly, happy, well-adjusted, smart and does help look after the farm when we aren't there (he's confined when we're not there). He gets along with other dogs well. My partner takes him hunting - he's a great squirrel dog. He hunts mice and voles. He is submissive to his big sister - a 15 year old border collie.

And people love him back. Quite often I am told what a nice dog he is and that they cannot believe he is a pit bull - shudder! And then tell me they have longed for as nice a dog as Baby Blue is.

But you, my dear - are a petty, small-thinking, narrow-minded bigot who perpetuates myths about people - and dogs.

May God have mercy on your soul.

I was just at a public park enjoying our city's 125 birthday celebration. I happen to love dogs and approach just about anybody with any breed. A lady had a pure breed border collie that was going to chew my arm off if I would try and pet her, the lady told me that herself. She said her dog definately bites and to not get close. Then there was a young man and young lady walking their two pure breed pit bulls. Great dogs! Loved to have people pet them and were excited to be a part of the festivities. My point... Don't judge a dog by their breeding, judge a dog by their character! You may be surprised!

Come to my neighborhood. I live in a very common middle class community. I have a pit and so do many of the people in our area. They always walk them and all of them are great dogs. You are extremely stereotypical and it bothers many pit bull owners. If you look up their temperment description with the AKC it describes them as a very strong, loyal, happy dog that is great with kids.

Well just to let you know, if you lived near me you would see my Am Staff/Rotti mix playing in the yard with my kids and their friemds all the time! All three of my kids like to walk the dog ( they are 13, 10, and 8). Guess what...........my dogs well behaved. It's the other dogs around we have to be careful of.

P.S. I don't live in the "hood" . You would be quite amazed to see my neighborhood. It's like freakin Mayberry

Hmmm....most of the ones I meet are either at obedience or agility class. But that's just me........

Just because morons like pits, doesn't mean all pits are owned by morons.
