That's really one of the many reasons I stopped going to church & ended up opting out of religion altogether.
Ever notice when you first go one of these so called churches the people are so nice, warm & welcoming, & giving you their phone #'s etc? Then after a few weeks it's like they don't even know you anymore.
Sorry if offended anyone but from most of my experiences this Christianity is nothing but hypocrisy & a money making scam!!!

I know it's NOT just Christianity but it's just where I've seen it the most & I'm smart enough to stay the heck away from the Scientologists & Unitarian freaks!

I'm sorry you have had experiences like that at Church. Maybe some of the people you met weren't very good at being Christian, but that does nothing to change the truth about God.
Every Christian is supposed to be an ambassador for God here on the earth. Some are definitely more dedicated to this idea than others. Unfortunately, many people will decide how they perceive a whole group based on the actions of a few of the members. There are lots of good, loving Christians in the world along with the ho-hum ones. I should also say that even the best of us sometimes gets caught up in our own situation and fails to focus on others the way we should.
As far as Christianity being a money making scam, the majority of the money taken in by any given church goes to pay the overhead (cost of the building, the pastor's salary, any maintenance/office help, utilities, etc.) and most of the rest will go to supporting missionary work and charitible organizations. I haven't been to many churches that had a lot of savings stored up (unless they were trying to replace an old building or something like that).
Again, I am truly sorry for the impression of Christianity that you have. On the other side of the coin though, if this was enough to drive you away from God and the Church...what does that say about you? Look inward for a while and figure out where you stand with God before blaming everyone else for your dissatisfaction with the Church.

Obviously you've been hurt and nothing anyone can say will erase that feeling. The hypocrisy in the church is unreal until you realize this too was prophesied. It's the great following away. People with no Jesus in their heart trying to fake it til they make it.
You don't have to be part of the apostasy as an individual though. It isn't true that Christianity is all hypocrisy and lust of money and you know that. If you don't feel comfortable in the church at least study the word on your own .
There are many good bible study sites on line. My favorite is gracethrufaith.com.
I'm not asking for you to have faith or to send me money. Just stay connected and have an informed opinion. God Bless!

I've had similar church experiences. I don't really care for the corporate "church". Instead, I fellowship with people who are really Christians. Some of them attend church, some of them don't. But try to remember, even Jesus Christ did not like religion. Religion won't get anyone anywhere. However, a relationship with Jesus Christ guarantees eternal life. God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth, not in word and deed.
There are a lot of false teachers and false prophets out there. The way you can tell the difference is to ask yourself this: Is the preacher you are listening to preaching to please mankind, or God? When you hear a preacher saying that the "seed" we are supposed to plant is money, you know you are hearing a false teacher. The seed we are to plant is the word of God. Don't give up on Jesus Christ. Study your Bible and pray for His guidance. We are living in a time where most of organized Christianity is filled with hypocrites and false teachers/prophets. Let the Holy Spirit guide you. The Bible says that you have no need that any man teach you, that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.
Believe it, you can find lots of Christians to fellowship with, who don't go to church. A lot of people are fed up with the corporate christian church. You are not alone. Just ask the Savior, Jesus Christ to help you. Peace.

Yes, you can thank the Christian Coalition for that one. My friends attended a church here that has actually kicked them out when they've needed the safety net of their church! One went through a divorce, they kicked her out for a year. She couldn't WAIT for that year to be up so she could go back. She said they were right in their doing that because she messed up by marrying the guy in the first place. I think it's brainwashing of some kind and look at the sizes of these churches. Shameful. They should be uptown helping hungry people with all that $$ instead of building great big wings on their churches to house more hypocrites.

Denise you shouldn't believe in God based on the actions of men. God is available to you in a personal relationship with him. Those who love the truth seek him and receive a gift of faith and through faith comes revelation and a personal relationship with God. While Christians should be an example of Christ people are not perfect as we would wish to be we are a work in progress.
First you don't believe because of the actions of Christians then you don't believe in Christ because you don't believe in God period. It seems to me this isn't a question but an opportunity to bash Christians.
Most Christians are not profiting financially over sharing the truth with you.
If you do not choose to believe in God why the question and why so angry?
Have you considered why the idea of Christianity makes you angry?

You should read the question I posted today along the same subject. In my opinion the greatest sin is the sin of turning someone away from God. There are many guilty of that these days.
Oh, and my dad only gave one piece of advice that ever turned out to be any good. He said never to trust anyone doing business out of one hand and holding a bible in the other.

There are some good true Christians too. I'm Atheist and yet I do have some very good Christian friends I can totally trust. The problem with those who are fake, is that they're not true Christians, they just claim to be so, but their actions and behaviours prove the contrary. They call themselves Christians just to be part of a group, but when it comes to facts they show their true colors.

Being a christian isn't about other people, it is about Jesus Christ. Do you think Jesus is fake? NO! Of course many people will say they are something when they are not- this is everywhere! But more importantly is YOUR WALK with Christ.
Pray for some godly friends, people who truly love the Lord, but the worst thing to do is neglect God and His salvation-- His truth!
Because many people make christianity look bad, this just shows the devil wants as many people away from God as he can get. So when you reject Christ you are letting satan win. Does that make sense?
God says that he is near to the righteous, and far from the wicked ( in Proverbs) God knows the heart of every person, and who are truly HIS. Please do not give up your faith because of fake people.....but keep your eyes focused on the truth of Jesus--seek Him and not the appearance of others.

Ok. I'm a christian and all I have to say is that everyone is human. You always have someone who walks in church holy and walks out about to go get drunk or something. People are people. But not all christians are fake. I know I'm not. And the ones that do act that way probably do because they are trying to get their lives together. And it's not a oney making scam. I don't know why people think that. It says in the Bible to tithe.

Because Christianity is HARD!!
It's so much easier to sin! That's why so many lose the path.
Plus, i am a Catholic, and I don't even have to give money to my church, so I don't see how it could be a money-making scam. The only scam are the multi-million dollar churches that require tithing for admittance. If you were in one of these, I am very sorry. Don't give up on Christianity yet, maybe try another faith, and you may be more accepting into it. There are so many false faiths nowadays, it scares me.
