Possibly, they are equal in their power?
The Bible states that with the heart, man believes unto righteousness and with the Mouth,Confession is turned unto salvation. Yet James say that our Confession of faith is dead, without Works.
'But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison". James 3:8
'If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.
Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things'. James 3
Yet Jesus stated that believers would be known by their Love for one another.
There are many scriptures that could be used in argument for either case.
Very good question.

No, especially Bible verses. The Bible is really just a collection of children's fairy tales, much akin to the types like Harry Potter or Jack and the Bean Stalk. I don't fear death, were all going to die someday, so I live the best I can while I'm here. I fully believe that this is only possible outside the lines of religion, because religion only clouds people from having a fully functional happy life. If you looking for words that are more powerful than actions, you only need one: THINK! Other than that, I dare you, as an atheist to a Christian, to love the other person without judging them. Thats true freedom, but if you follow your Bible fundamentally, you won't be able to do that. And thats unfortunate!

Hi Dr.G....I have to go with the phrase "Actions speak louder than words". Because it's not so much what you say, it's how one says it with their actions and body movements. Now for instance I can say one thing but my heart is else where. One can be angered and say things they don't really mean and regret at a later time on what was said. Actions can't be erased or forgotten so in this aspect actions are more powerful than words in my opinion. Have a great day!

It seems to me that words are much more powerful than we give them credit for. Actions are obviously powerful but we can't discount the words we use. Talk with mean talk and you will become a mean person. Use kind language, you will act like a kind person. Use alarming talk and you will stir argument or cause people to be alarmed. Use calming words and watch people become calm. So I don't know that words are "more" powerful than actions but I do think they are close.
Be blessed!

Word themselves are not powerful. The actions taken in the name of those words, that is where the words' power comes from.

This has nothing to do with religion but yes I believe actions are more powerful than words.
You can make promises, or make claims about feelings.....but it's really what you do.
There's a saying...."is there cash in the bank to back up that check".....words alone mean nothing.

Words are often a distraction from real issues. Some people seem to think that if everyone stop using 'the N-word' racism will have been eliminated.

Definitely not. If you were stabbing me in the stomach, but at the same time you were saying "I love you. I really do, despite what I'm doing right now." Well those words would seem pretty meaningless to me.
