There is no after-life, unless you interpret re-incarnation as being recycled through decomposition. I would come back as a maggot!! LOL

I hope that there is a next phase of growth which, when we get there, will show us why we can't now know what there is to be.

I imagine that it will either be something along those lines, something we can't possibility begin to comprehend, or there is nothing, which, if you think about it, we also can't comprehend. I was just thinking about this very question not half an hour ago. We cannot truly comprehend our own non-existence, because to think about not existing requires our minds to be THERE where we don't and won't and can't exist. It is like a blank void, just like the time before we were born. Have you ever thought that all the history and stuff that happened before you were born sometimes seems like someone made it all up, because how could anything have happened without you being there to know that it actually happened???

it is too strange, isn't it?

I also asked this one time: if you COULD FIND OUT what happens after we die, WOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW?

That is also scary. Suppose you do find out and there is nothing. I would rather not know, and live now!

Bright Blessings!

My hopes:
we wake up to global warming
the USA leads the way in compassion
we get a different President
my children grow up to be happy and have great marriages

My dreams:
I take my daughters to Europe
Kiefer Sutherland writes me a fan letter

Um, I don't think there is an eternity, but if there were, I'd prefer to be god. Make little worlds, like The Sims 2, but for real. I'd SO play matchmaker with my sims! I'd also come up with a more moral 10 commandments than BetaGod did.

Eternity, if you are an atheist, does not exist --in the spiritual sense. You live, then you die. When you die, the race has been run, and you're done.

That's why to most atheists, time is of the essence. This is my one shot, and I will live it out to the best of my ability. When death takes me, I leave history to sort out whether or not I was a good, kind, or selfish, horrible person.

I do not believe that there is an after life. I believe that once I die that is it. However, if for some reason that there is an afterlife I will be judged on my actions and good deeds and not for blindly believing in a god just because I am told to do so

I hope for nothing after death. I believe there is nothing. But I have hopes and dreams for my life today and that is what is important to me.

If by some strange miracle there is anything after death, I do not believe it will be like anything we would be able to imagine. And I believe wasting time worrying about it only degrades our lives that we know we have.

My hopes and dreams are for my life. The concept of an afterlife was made up by those whose lives were so bad that they had to hope for more.

silly question. the atheists will say there is no afterlife, therefore, no views on the nature of it. Personally, I don't know what it will be like. it seems to me that life is energy and as such may only dissipate or change form. but focusing on that is counter-productive to the things I do in life right now.

There's no eternity -- just this life. I want comfort and love and a little more for my children.

I will simply go to the place I was for the first 13.5 billion years of the Universe's existence, before I was ever born....
