Without taking drugs, or doing meditation?
They both tend to happen at once. I feel very stressed, and start going crazy. Then depression kicks in, and I just kinda sit there for no reason at all for a while.

I have a lot on my mind that I cant help to stop thinking about. Eg. Anxiety, work, etc.

Are there any ways to help control this?

Thanks in Advance.

Stress is your body's reaction to how you think about things.

Typically you feel a tightness across your shoulders and you may experience a shortness of breath.

Letting it go on too long may cause panic attacks because you feel you no longer can cope.

There are two things you can do. One is a mental exercise and the other a physical exercise.

Take a deep breath.
Remember some time when you felt you could really handle the situation, when you felt confident about your abilities.

Often when you are given a promotion you get that feeling that your efforts are being recognized. Thats the feeling you want to get.

See yourself doing your job now with that same feeling

Take another deep breath.

Several times during the day, stop for a moment, take a few deep breaths and remember how you felt.

Organize your day so that what has to be done is done first. Leave some time at the end of the day to do what you love doing. That way you go home feeling better than if you schedule it the other way.

Remember to smile at everyone you meet. And during breaks exchange jokes or stories with someone.

Okay here is how to help yourself if you don't want to seek psychiatric help there are also these options to make you feel happier.

1. Listen to the happiest song you can think of.

2. Talk to a friend, parent, gaurdian, relatives, etc. about your feelings. It really helps!

3. Make a list of all the good things you see in yourself and pin it up in your room. Whenever you feel depressed look at the list, and listen to some uplifting music.

4. Repeat 20 times I am an awesome person.

5. Eat healthy and excercise often, it has been proven to reduce stress.

6. Ask everyone what they think of you.

7. Always when you're stressed think of how none of this matters because you are still awesome. Look at your awesome list and give somebody a hug!

I understand what you are going through, when you start to feel this way, get a notebook and write down how you feel, use words that describe how you feel, you can also use the scale technique from 1-10 how would you rate yourself at that time. The final thing you could do is, write a letter to yourself, telling yourself everything that's going on, and what you want to change, etc. try it...you'll be fine!!

Hypnotherapy is a wonderful way to relax, reduce stress and to get better quality sleep with no side effects.
You can visit a Hypnotherapist for a one to one session or get a self help CD (or download)
The benefits can be amazing.
Good luck.

Embrace what is, which is to say let it be.... whatever is happening in this moment say YES to it instead of resisting with a NO.
Stress comes from resisting what is.

When you think you are in past or future, unaware of right now. This results in depression.... because that is forsaking who you are for a thought.

Who you are is everything you seek.... love, joy, bliss, peace.... and thinking forsakes that.

Real meditation is an alternative to drugs.

Do meditation, NOT drugs.

Last halloween, after drinking heavily for years. I stopped drinking & started doing (Soto Zen) meditation. Despite being obsessive (I drank because I obsessed about things in my life, that I couldn't change - like my job going offshore 3 times in 5 years), I found that meditation allowed me to LET GO.

Meditation requires no drugs. I have a drug-free serenity with absolutely no desire for alcohol.

I work at it , one day at a time and I keep track of my accomplishment , no matter how small, and when my brain goes into over drive , I read to have something to concentrate on or answer questions so I'm not dwelling on my problem. And yes, I have dealt with a Bipolar Problem most of my life but I manage to put it in prospective for myself .

lets see, you don't want to take anything, and you don't want to meditate or actually think about it.....hmmm, one would have to deduce that you are looking for a fairy godmother with a magic wand...sorry, no such thing. If you want to get better, you actually have to do something actively.
