Get an angel food cake. If you can find a long one its easier than a round one. Cut it in the middle making 2 layers. Cut hard frozen strawberry ice cream into slices and place on the cake.between the layers. Ice the cake with whipped cream. You may want to color the cream to be the same color as the ice cream. This is fun, easy and inexpensive. You can choose any colors or flavor. It is light and great for a summer desert. You can keep it in the freezer. Happy Birthday.

Get some ginger nut biscuits,(if you're in America, I think you call them cookie - I am an Aussie) whipped cream and apricot jam. Spread some apricot jam in between each biscuit and stick them together. You can make practically any shape you want. Numbers for a birthday age, snake...... Add a little icing sugar to the whipped cream and cover all of the biscuits. Cover and let this sit in the fridge overnight. The cream and the jam will soften the biscuits and make it a 'cake-like' texture. It is absolutely delicious, give it a try.

This Is a No Brain er. Take her out to her favorite place and let her not even think about a cake . IE. Chucky Cheese or another place geared for young children. Just because it is her Birthday doesn't mean all the kids have to eat cake. what is wrong with the house dessert?

If you are looking for a fun birthday dessert, try this they are SOOOO good!
Make an ice cream cake. It is SO easy to make. All you need is 2 boxes of Ice cream bars, two jars of fudge, 2 containters of cool whip and a kind of candy like mini m&ms or butterfinger, or heath bars are what we have used in the past.
Layer the bottom of the pan with icecream bars so they fit snug in the bottom of the pan, next spread a layer of fudge over the ice cream bars (if you have to warm it to spread it, wait till it cools for the next layer or the cool whip turns a little runny). Next put on a layer of cool whip, and then a layer of your candy. If you use a candy bar, just smash it up into small pieces and sprinkle it over.
Repeat each layer one more time and you have a WONDERFUL ice cream cake. YUMMY! Everywhere I take this people ask how I made it and when I tell them, they cant belive how easy it is.
Or if you like fruite, how about fruit pizza, its sweet and perfect for dessert.

Chocolate fondue with fresh fruit and cake, then you cover all the bases. If not, although it's a cake it's not traditional, strawberry short cake.
I have actually made this ice cream cake before because my daughter doesn't like cake or chocolate. I used one of those large sized disposable plastic sorage containers. To this I added one layer of vanilla bean ice cream, on top thin layer of whipped cream and one layer of strawberries I let marinate in sugar about 1/2 pint. I let this freeze and repeat using blueberries and again using rasperries. Once it is totally frozen I turn it out on a pan I have covered with foil paper then cover with whipped cream and freeze again. She loved it. Actaully everyone loved it.

Fruit would be great, healthy, etc. ...but where would you put the candles? I would suggest an ice cream "cake". Most markets now sell them, Carvel or Dairy Queen for sure. Everyone loves ice cream. Looks like a cake, candles on top! Happy Birthday from me.

My mom made this for me as a birthday "cake". It is graham crackers, chocolate, and vanilla pudding and cool whip topped with strawberies.
Simply layer crackers at bottom of large sheet cake pan. Cook 2 boxes each of chocolate and vanilla pudding. ( You MUST use "Cook and Serve" because instant will NOT set).
Pour the vanilla pudding on the crackers, when slightly cool layer more grahams, tehn pour the chocolate. Then put in the fridge to cool and set. (about an hour). Then layer with a tub of cool whip and top with sliced strawberries.
Nummy!!
She called it Icebox Cake
