Many or most Jehovah's Witnesses would choose not to donate blood since they have little or no control over the godly or ungodly purposes toward which the blood might be used. However, as a religion, Jehovah's Witnesses do not entirely disallow all blood donations.
In harmony with the bible (especially Acts 15:20,28,29), Jehovah's Witnesses reject transfusions of whole blood and the four primary components which approximate "blood". However, an individual Witness is likely to accept a targeted treatment for a targeted need. The religion tolerates the use of minor blood fractions derived from plasma, platelets, and/or red/white blood cells, and presumably these would come from blood donations.
The following is quoted merely to demonstrate the actual position of Jehovah's Witnesses:
"Our Kingdom Ministry" of November, 2006 (pages 3,4)
[quote, but caps added]
Of course, many fractions are derived from blood that has been donated for medical purposes. Each Christian should make a conscientious decision as to whether he or she will accept or will reject the medical use of these substances. ...Although [Jehovah's Witness] Christians do not donate or store their own blood FOR TRANSFUSION PURPOSES, some procedures or tests involving an individual’s blood are not so clearly in conflict with Bible principles. Therefore, EACH INDIVIDUAL SHOULD MAKE A CONSCIENTIOUS DECISION... Your decisions should be your own and should not be based on someone else’s conscience. Likewise, no one should criticize another Christian’s decisions. In these matters, “each one will carry his own load” of responsibility.—Gal. 6:4,5.

It is sad that they resort to human sacrifices like that, but it just goes to demonstrate the power the cults have over people.
Two things have to happen: The person needs to regain their critical thinking skills, and the cognitive dissonance needs to get to a point they can no longer psychologically accommodate it.
Trying to show them how they have misapplied Scripture is usually a waste of time. They cannot think for themselves.
Jesus bleeding out his life is irrelevant to this belief, btw. It is the "consuming" of blood they have a problem with.

If it truly is better to give than to receive, then the best thing you could give to someone would be to receive something from them. Being selfish would be a good thing because you would be giving people the gift of giving.
It is a good feeling to give though, but I don't know about better that receiving. Receiving is fun...

Recent PET studies have shown that the brain areas that signal pleasure when receiving presents also light up when giving.
Proof positive that altruism is instinctive and built-in to humans.

Young lady...the Jehovah's represent only a very small percentage of Christians and even then, they do not espouse or support most mainstream Christian beliefs. If you wish to attack them or ask questions of them, do it when they come to your door...they would love to tell you all about themselves.

Your question has shown that you have absolutely no idea why they do what they do. Here, let me provide you with some reading. They see rules in the Bible, and they follow them through faith. Whether right or wrong, that's what they do.

If it's better to give than recieve, then I doubt anyone would be on the recieving end.
This rule is plain stupid no matter how "good" it sounds.
