Which would be more appropriate as a hostess gift? Wine is so boring!

Or does anyone have a better idea? Dinner at business associate's house.

Or maybe some interesting pickles?

Of course you're not serious. Neither of these would be a good hostess gift.

How about some nice flowers? (Not huge or messy, please.)
How about calling ahead and offering to bring dessert, or the bread course?

Now THOSE are host/hostess gifts just about no one would refuse!

Don't take prune juice. I feel like there is such a strong connection to it as a constipation cure.

The tartar sauce would be fine if it is a very special brand and you know the host enjoys tartar sauce. Typically something that make a more versatile condiment (some nice jelly/ jam or fancy slasas and mustards) would be more appropriate.

If it is a gag gift then bring both! Or an indutrial sized can of pudding from a Warehouse club.

that question is dumb because how do you relate wine, tarter sauce and prune juice...1 is for fish and it's not a drink, 1 acts like a laxative and the other is for gettin drunk...so I would stick with the wine if it's a dinner for work..gettin drunk on wine will remove any inhibitions and you can say exactly what's on your mind and you'll feel good about it. at least until the next day...!

What about the fish? Are you having fish? why would you bring tarter sauce? Prune juice??? now that's just plain nasty!! does your associate have constipation? Bring a book or flowers. I would personally stick with the wine!

Heck bring some milanos cookies. Prune juice and tarter sauce seem a bit odd.

Of the two I'd rather receive the tarter sauce. Wine would be better than either one though.

Oh dear Lord, pickles as a hostess gift. I think not. Wine is nice, however, so are nice mini pastries, a small floral arrangement, as well as fine chocolates.

You're supposed to be taking a gift for the hostess (or host) - and think what THEY would like - it's not for you. Perhaps you find wine boring, but they may enjoy it very much, and that's what counts.

I would enjoy getting a nice bottle of an interesting hot sauce but you go ahead with the tartar sauce if you must...

I'd stick with the wine even if you think it's boring.
