Hand to hand, if someone muggs you and you beat the @$%& out of him is it ethical to take whatever wallet he has on him cause he tried to take youse?

I don't think it is appropriate for the muggee to mug the mugger. But you can throw his wallet in the sewer and call the cops to collect their trash.

No it is not!! To beat the rap out of the person is ok because that is self defense but to take his wallet is not ethical cuz u didnt have 2 do that!! After the beating the best thing 2 do is call the cops cuz then he will b put in jail for his attempt on muggin u!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think it is a good idea to put your hands anyplace near his pockets because you may get stuck if he has a needle. If you are comfortable with beating the crap out of the guy be carful not to cut you hands breaking his teeth because of possible disease transmission (hepatitis or aids). Just leave the bum where he falls and report the incident.

I say yes. Its a more effective and appropriate punishment than turning them over to the system. Of course any government type will say that is vigilantism and thus wrong, but thats because government always wants to maintain a monopoly on force and dislikes a citizen growing a pair.

that happened to a friend of mine.he (at the time) was in a mostly homosexual neighborhood.he beat the guy up then handcuffed his hands to the bottom of a firehydrant pulled the guys pants down and walked away

No its not ethical but what is is tieing him and waiting till the police get there to arrest him for assaulting you even though you kicked his butt.
