I have two tattoos on my back, which I designed and they are my art replicated. I am an artist and a scientist, who is highly active politically; as a result, my tattoos reflect my convictions, as well as the type of person I hope to always be and strive to become. I placed them on my back to be able to cover them easily in the workplace or field environments.
I have five piercings on my left ear, and to balance out those piercing, I had my nose pierced on the right side. My ear has the birthstones of my husband and three children in them. I received my nose piercing simply because I find it extremely attractive on women all over the world.
For me, tattoos and piercings are not only a way of self-expression, but also a way of embellishing myself to my own taste rather than confining myself to what my culture, American, limits as beautiful and acceptable.

Well, when I was younger I had a laundry list of piercings. However now I have my two dragons on my lower back (tattoos) and a rather large hoop in the top of my left ear. It was more of a growing up thing to take the others out so that I could find work being judged on my experiance not my aperance.

I have one tattoo and nine body piercings. I have my cartilage pierced on each ear, I have 3 lobe piercings on each ear, and I have my tongue pierced. I got my piercings because I was rebellious. I have a Scorpion tattooed on my right shoulder because I am proud of what I am and am willing to show off my pride to the world. That is how I met my husband. He is a scorpio as well and has his on his left calf.

I had piercings back in my punk rock days. But all but my earrings are gone now.
No tattooes...and although you didn't ask...I just don't want them. I know me. I know my personality. I change constantly. I am also cheap with my money. I cringe at the thought of spending money on something I'm going to wish I could take off in about 5 years. That's what happened with the piercings. I just got tired of them after awhile.
But I love them on others. I think they are great expressions and sexy as hell. But just not for me.
To each his/her own!

I have some thing like 16 piercings, though they are mainly in my ears due to minor-ness.
I do have a lip, belly and nose piercing though. :]
I have them because it brings me incredible pleasure to have them. It feels like I'm decorating my otherwise plain and boring body.
I like the feeling of being pierced, I like the sense of accomplishment.
I love my piercings very much and do plan on etting more once I turn 18. Same goes for tattoos- a beautiful way [most of the time] to decorate your otherwise plain body.

I have 11 tats
left wrist - vine w/ roses and thorns.
left upper forearm - theater masks
right upper arm - stem rose wrapped in barbed wire, butterfly and an just an open rose
left lower leg outside view- gecko
left lower leg inside view - dragon
right lower leg outside view KU Jayhawk
right side of tummy - now a blob, (got pregnant and it stretched it out) it was a black heart
On chest over my heart, is a heart with my daughters names on it
Back of my neck is a symbol for saggitaurius
Some of them mean something others dont. My daughter and I have the same symbol on the neck and my husband and I have the same dragon. My heart with my kids name is obvious, the theater masks for my drama history, the Jayhawk, well read my name here. I love geckos..and the rest were just because I like the designs.
