Jayski reports that he MAY leave Penske though he is signed through next year. Wow, what kind of damage could he do in THAT equipment?
Newman's status up in the air? to RCR? #12-Ryan Newman’s future continues to be a question mark in the NASCAR garage [Jayski note: Newman is signed with Penske at least thru 2008], and it’s not clear if he will be back with car owner Roger Penske next season. If not, Newman could become a candidate for the fourth Richard Childress team.

I like Ryan but he beat out Jimmie Johnson for Rookie of the Year in 2002 even though Johnson finished higher in the standings (I still don't know exactly how that works). Therefore he can stay in that Dodge a little longer, he's too big of a threat in a Chevy.

I would love it !!! Ryan has the brains and skills to make it anywhere, but I think Penske has focused more money and time on Kurt Busch's Miller Lite Dodge.
Given the chance and the right equipment Rocketman will be back in full force.

Look at the standings, compare the RCR cars to the Penske cars, that's how much better Newman would do if he went to RCR.
RCR cars are all in the top 12, Penske cars are both just out of it.
And pretty much any good driver that is looking is considered a candidate for the 4th RCR car, based on the wording of Jayski, it doesn't sound like they have even talked about that possibility.

w/ RCR equipment, and a good crew chief that fit Newman well.. He'd prolly ROCKET his way to a championship. I have alot of faith in Newman, and have followed him off/on since his early USAC days.
I'd be surprised to see him leave Penske though. Roger has done alot for Newman, but stats are DOWN, WAY DOWN compared to the stats they had. As bad as it has gotten for the Penske boys, and with as many bad runs as Newman has had.. I guess it wouldn't surprise me that much to see him leave, but... They have picked up results wise here lately. Something is clicking again over there, and they've started to make a decent run @ making the CHASE. If Newman does decide to leave Penske, I think the major factor for him would be.. A. Get out of those damn Dodges, and B. he would have to have a 95% sure deal w/ another team, like RCR.

I think he'd do great. He is a good driver, just lost his luck from a few years ago.
I hope RCR pics a good level headed team player to join his forces, and Newman would sure be a good one.
Owning a 4th team would Rule!!!!

That would be the only place he could go that would make me like him even more. Awesome if it happens! If you aren't driving a Chevy, you're wasting your time.
