I'm not sure who Sean Hannity is. I looked him up on the internet and didn't find much information, so I'm simply going to answer your question and ignore the blurb.

Atheists think Christians are uneducated because, unfortunately, there is a small minority of very loud, very silly people who do foolish things in the name of God. These people make everyone look bad. They are the ones who make Christians seem like ignorant bigots as well as the ones who make America seem so strange to the rest of the world.

If it makes you feel better, I am a faithful Christian with three university degrees. Try reading people like C. S. Lewis or Philip Yancey -- intelligent, erudite theologians out to offer explanation and inspiration instead of condemnation.

Its spelled "atheists".

Some Christians are educated, just not about the history of their own church. If you look up the Council of Nicea, 325 A.D., Christianity pretty much falls apart as that is when it was "decided" that Jesus was "divine", and not before. So much for Christianity, but its kind of hard to tell 2 billion people that they are wrong, even if they are.

I don't have a college degree either, but I read books at the M.D./Ph.D. level. You don't need to go to college to get an education - you only need to go to college to get a COLLEGE education. Otherwise just read a great deal.

I will give most Christians this much though: I've never seen any atheist-based charities. A lot of them have great big loving hearts, so hats off to them for that!

To the "Rev. Albert Einstein": Saying that half of Americans don't believe in evolution is pretty much the same thing as 50 million Germans can't be wrong. Most Americans aren't scientists, and just because they don't believe something is true doesn't mean that it isn't. People used to believe the Earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the Earth. Truth marches slowly sometimes.

I don't know who Sean Hanity is; however, I will say that most people who are pronounced, large speaking members of the Conservative Christian community act like uneducated twits.

It's not a good thing to equate people to specific leaders in their religion; in fact, it's largely absurd. However, one must also admit that religious folk get irrational about their beliefs --least ways, I have only seen very few who'll defend what they believe and not get into heated debate.

Well, Sean Hanity aside, I don't make sweeping generalizations about Christians. Some are well educated, but many seem to ignore some of their education for the sake of their beliefs.

Some of them are samrt, they just make stupid choices like telling me that i'm going to hell and trying to freaking convert me. Now that's stupid. Some of them are really clueless because they think that everyone should be the same religion and they feel free enough to tell whoever disagrees that they are desitined for and eternity with the devil. If they we're smart, they would know that not everyone want to be the same way as them. There are some smart christians who are open minded and won't judge those that are different from them. But i think thats pretty rare right now to find a christian who wont judge.

Largely because of the silly things so many Christians in high places have said:

Someone asked Jerry Fallwell what language the Bible was written in. He actually replied "English, I think."

I posted a question in R&S last spring. I asked "What language was the Bible first published in?"

Hey, if you can read the question and do about five minutes of research, you can answer this question.

Of my 25 replies, the only person to get it right was an atheist.

One suspects that Christians spend far too much time dwelling on superstitions derived from the Old Testament, and very little actually studying much else, including the history of their own book.

As far as Hannity: who cares? Dumb show.

In your case it may be the blatant mis-spelling... (;?)

We don't think the religious are uneducated; indeed I know one or two deeply ignorant humanists. The issue is that Christians and the rest of the believers expect to be taken seriously despite believing in ideas without evidence. That would be fine, if it were a matter of personal and private faith, however religions attempt to take over our schools, our public services and influence our laws and government. That is undemocratic. Some of your more ardent co-religionists kill and maim in the name of your gods. We atheists don't think you are stupid, we think you are dangerous.

It amazes me for sure... that silly notion. George Washington 1st US President , Isaac Newton 17th Century mathematician and physicist, Paul Johnson 20th Century British journalist and historian, John Quincy Adams US President 1825- 1829, Abraham Lincoln US President 1861-1865, and of course former renowned atheist Antony Flew, professor of philosophy at Reading University, whose arguments have influenced scholars the world over, who converted to the view that some sort of Deity created the universe, ARE all very well educated with great credentials, to name a handful...
It's something they grasp onto for lack of a valid argument, and a way to sling insults. I find it amusing to be honest.
Have a great one!!

Greetings in Love

Many atheists, especially on Yahoo! Answers Religion & Spirituality try to mock believers, be it Christians, Muslims, Hindus etc.

They feel themselves superior each time they do it and choose for best answer the one who gives the worst remark on believers and/or their beliefs.

"There are many educated people who have ruined their future on account of their ignorance of religion. Their knowledge did not prove of any avail to them. (Imam Ali Ibn Abu Talib)"
