Oh man, I know there is. Let me think a second.
YES.... Crab apples.

Dried crab-apples along the baseboard will discourage spiders from the area. I didn't believe it either but I started keeping a few around the garage and I never saw another spider after that.

I just use old spider webs to write out "Dwight Frye lives here". Scares the heck out of them. Dwight Frye loves the taste of nice, juicy spiders, but then again, who wouldn't?
