The great thing about push-ups is it targets chest, shoulders and triceps at the same time. It even works stomach muscles if you concentrate on keeping your stomach flat when doing them. I would suggest though to try to work up to six daily sets: 25-20-15-10-5.

Everyone is gonna tell you diet and exercise. Push ups suck. Watch the chips and soda and pizza. Eat more vegetables and protein. Jog a bit 15-25 min. a day. Start lifting weights. Benching, Decline Benching, Incline Benching, Dumbell Benching. Between all of those you will find some you like to do. It will get your pecs bigger, work some of the fat out of them, and get you comfortable with fitness. If you just do push ups you will never get there and you will grow despondent.

Go out for track. NOT football. Football you will get injuries that stay with you and **** up the rest of your life. Track you can hang out with all the hot chicks and you get to use the school gym and learn some real good fitness things. It is a good habit to get into at 14.

yea it'll help but if you really want to lose that fat....you need to do some cardio w/ that also. you have chest muscle its just that the fat is covering it so what you need to do is burn the fat. the only way to burn the fat is if you burn more calories then you take in, thus doing cardio...theres so much to do...
-basketball
-fun, walk , jog
-ride a bike, or a startionary bike , or stair climber
-jump rope (this is a good one) and etc
also watch what you eat make sure its healthy not junk foods and white bread and rice...brown bread ,rice are better
so that will help burn the fat...now if you want to build muscle then your goin to have to lift heavy weight w/ low reps
3 sets of 10,8,6 reps.
but if you want to tone then lite weight with high reps
3-4 sets of 15,12,10 reps
and if you dont have weights theres stuff around the house to use...like a 5 gal. water jug .....paint cans ...and soooo much more
so that should help you out ok
1)burn the fat w/ cardio
2)tone it up w/ either lite weights or find stuff around the house if you dont have a gym membership and/or weights at home..
good luck buddy

It should help you loose some fat in that area but you will probably gain muscle mass. Plus push ups are mostly for arm strength.

Ever heard of a chest press? try that. It should be more effective.

It will certainly help to build muscle, however if you want to remove fat you should be doing some cardiovascular exercise like running or cycling, this is common for boys of your age, so don't worry too much the fat may disappear as you pass through puberty.

It will help tone, but if you'd like to lose fat, you need to run or do other cardio that elevates your heart rate for extended periods of time.

Push us are for mostly your arms and feet. To flatten you chest, try doing weights that open your arms. Like this:
