you should have already left.
leave at 3:00 remember traffic time plus the hightened security ..yeah your not checking a bag but they dont care and that would even raise suspicion.
2: hours you have a carry on? or purse. Take out everything you do not need on it as they are checking alot lately due to a warning recieved from homeland security

I work at LAX. El Segundo is only about 2 miles from the airport so it takes just a few minutes to get there. You should be there 2 hrs before your flight. I have seen Security lines very short and folks just zip thru. But somedays it can take over an hour to get thru Security. So plan accordingly. Of course it is always best to the early than late. Once inside security there are restaurants and gift shops to occupy your time. If its an International flight two hrs early minimum.

For a domestic flight, plan on getting there no later than 4:00pm, or 3:30pm if you're flying Southwest and want a good seat (the advantage of flying Southwest is that this terminal has a Brookstone with a massage chair). ;)
Security usually takes half an hour, and traffic is pretty bad that time of day.
Give yourself 20-30 minutes to find parking if you need it, but I think there might be shuttles from El Segundo.

Traffic is most likely going to be heavy in the PM hours going that way.
Seeing that you don't live very far from there, travel time would probably be 30 min max. give yourself enough time.
If you're not checking a bag... I suggest being at the airport at least 1 hour before take off. Usually it's 2 hours but if you're not checking a bag... no big deal. You do however, still need to check in yourself though. hour to an hour and a half tops!

Allow yourself a couple of hours.... El Segundo is only about 15 minutes from LAX but if you are driving..you will have to park in one of the lots on Sepulveda and take the small bus to your airline..... you can go on up to the gate and get your boarding pass there.......... have a nice trip.

If it is a domestic flight I would suggest that you get there at least two hours prior to your departure time. If its an international flight at least three hours. You don't want to get caught up long security lines and miss your flight, because you didn't allow enough time.

If I was you, I would recommend you that you get there at 3 or at 2 for international flights.
