Don't drive above the speed limit. If your situation is beyond that kind of help, then assistance can be given. The best advice is pull over immediately once you have been flagged by an officer.

When a police car, bicycle, horseback or motorcycle office orders you to pull over to the side, do so in a quick orderly fashion. Be alert as to not cause any further traffic problems or tie-ups.

*NOTE* Do not attempt to leave your vehicle unless ordered!!
While you are waiting for the officer to approach your vehicle, collect your driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance information. Having these items ready before the officer asks for them MIGHT help expedite your visit with the officer and may aid in avoiding getting a ticket.

Be honest. The officer expects you to try to weasel out of the ticket by using some form of deception, DON'T! Reason with the officer by being truthful about your mistake. Tell him or her that your speeding was a honest mistake that you won't make again.

Whether or not you get a ticket is subjective. Cops have a quota to fill. Especially highway patrol and state police. If you happen to run into one of those officers, you best bet is to hope that this officer has already made his or her quota for the day. Next, keep in mind the officer want to survive the traffic stop. keeping things pleasant and obeying the officer will allow the officer to expedite the stop and limit the amount of time spent with him or her.

I have been pulled over many times and never have gotten a ticket - the reason why - I believe - is because I admit to it (I was not goign at high speeds, just enough to get pulled over - or running a stop sign when no one but the cop was around at night). As far as the judge goes - tell the truth, don't come up with a story. just admit and it, say you will never do it again, and say that you are willing to go take some classes if they would like you too (say that before that bring it up then they se that you are willing to do whatever you need to do to clear the matter up

Ignore all the answers about not speeding and having to pay the ticket. Everyone got a speeding ticket in some time in their life, it's normal. I've had a few, and I drive better than some other people who never got one.

When is your court date? What state do you live in? In some states you will start getting letters from different lawyers offering you help to get rid of it. But in most cases you'll have to find one yourself. Look through the yellow book and find local traffic ticket attorneys, call one, and ask for help. It usually costs somewhere from around $50 to $150 for them to take your case. You don't need to do anything, just fax them the ticket and pay them. The attorney will go to court for you and strike a deal with the city judge. You will probably end up paying the full ticket, but in most cases you won't get any points on your driving record, so your insurance will be unaffected.

If you don't want to use an attorney, you should go to court on the court date and plead "No contest". They will usually lower the points, but you'll still have to pay.

But if you have a good reason why the speeding ticket was unfair, please "not guilty" and present your case.

Yeah,
Common question.

Don't speed is the easiest way. If you do get pulled over have a good attitude about it and don't tell the officer things like:
1). Don't you have anything better to do?
2). I was just driving with the flow of traffic.
3). I pay your salary.
4). You were clocking someone else.
5). Why did you pull me over, everyone else was passing me.

With me its easier to talk yourself out of a warning and into a ticket then vice versa.

Once it's written, you'll probably have to pay something. Getting out of it is very unlikely. I just got one two days ago. My plan is to pay the fine, and take one of the drivers courses that are offered...so the ticket will at least be removed from my driving record and not keep on costing me through higher insurance premiums. Lastly, you can go to court and argue that you weren't speeding...I've heard from unreliable sources...that if the officer that wrote the ticket is not at the court, the judge rules in your favor :)

The best way to get out of a ticket is not to speed. I should know..I had eight tickets in five years...then not one in the past seven.

Besides not speeding, cooperation and honesty is your best bet to get a warning.

Here in PA, what I have done is to go to court, meet with the officer involved, and plead to a lesser offense, pay a fine and get no points on my license.

WOW... Congratulations, you're the 999,999th person to ask this exact same question... As I tell everyone else:

JUST PAY THE THING AND SLOW DOWN. THE RADAR GUN AND DASH CAM DON'T LIE, JUST GET OVER IT AND STOP WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME.
