You may want to give your local Police Dept. a call or the Range on that matter. I'd rather be safe then sorry but in some cases some things like that may fall in the "Grandfathered-in" category...Old pistol that came with hi-cap mags...Ruger P-85 9mm with 15rd mags or a Glock 17 with 15 rounders as an example.

You're in a "gray area" of the law. So many laws were passed in California that most law enforcement can't even give you a good answer. My advice is not to use it. Simply because, some cop is gonna hassle you over it. That means you face confiscation of not only the mag, but the pistol as well, and crimanal charges, that even if innocent of, it's gonna take years and thousands of dollars in legal fees to fight. In california, you also face the loss of the firearm even if innocent, as they have a no return policy in most agencies on firearms. They only people who stand a chance of answering your question are the ATF or the state attorney general, and even then it might not be the right answer. My advice, throw it in a drawer and forget about it., Use the politically corrct 10 rounders till you can move to a free state and avoid the problem.

We the people is right. If you have proof (reciept) that you bought it prior to the high capacity magazine ban, its posession willl be grandfathered. You will probably want to xerox the proof and keep a copy with that magazine at all times to avoid any hassles.

If you owned it legally before the ban's enactment then it is legal to own/use now.
