Well, it takes more than a pair of crutches. You need a fortress of self- confidence or....an emotional defender next to you at all times.

I believe this is a place to learn how to put the crutches away and learn to overcome being a cripple......You know most cripples usually heal and re-learn to walk and get along in life. They may have to do somethings in a new and different way but eventually the crutches, canes, walkers, all assistive devices that are not needed are thrown away and usually the person walks tall and proud, like look at me....I made it through that storm....it may have been the hardest thing I've ever done but I did it and I hope to never have to go through anything like that again but I can go through with more confidence next time....I did it once I can do it again!!!!

From seeing a Therapist and perhaps a psychiatrist. Write out positive affirmations about yourself a post them where ever you will see them. Change them often. When you start to think negatively about yourself, go back to those positive affirmations. Perhaps even using the negative feelings you have about yourself by turning them around into positive thoughts instead of negative and write them down to post as well. There are many sites on the web that will give you the ideas you need. There are also calendars and books that will give you positive statements to begin using to replace the old negative ones.

Crutches can come from any form of social support, therapist, self-help group, or book. However, you can only use crutches for so long, and you have to learn how to walk on your own. Don't rely on other people to support you and make you happy. Make sure you use them to help get you moving, and then be brave to walk on your own.

you dont obtain crutches being an emotional cripple...you walk around using them already...when you lean too much on stuff to make you feel good...like cigarettes...persons that interfere with your normal life.
you could learn to stand on your own two feet and walk normally ya know.

Well... you could try better living through chemicals. They are somewhat of a crutch.
You gave me a great laugh.
