its not that bad, slightly worse than piercing, but the pain does last a bit longer because of all the nerves in the top of the ear. also, make sure you clean it more often than you would a regular ear piercing because it tends to get in contact with a good amount more of bacteria than say a normal piercing

Yes- it did hurt some when I got my cartilage pierced but the real pain was that it was VERY tender for two months-at least! A friend of mine took her out after a year because it never did stop hurting.
You must also be very careful of infection in cartilage because they are hard to fight due to a lack of blood flow there.
I was also told be a professional piercer and tattoo artist not to get it done with the "piercing gun" they use in the Mall, because it can shatter the cartilage and that it is much better to get it dine by a professional with a needle. I think that all of my "after pain" was due to the piercing gun.
Good Luck!

it's not that bad getting it done, doesn't hurt much more than a regular ear piercing, it is sore for a lot longer afterwards though. I'd take some advil after and then be careful not to bump it on things (sleeping kinda was a pain for a few days).

Yup. My nose and the cartilage in my ear were the two most painful things I have ever had pierced. Use some ice to cool it down, and suck it up. It's all in the name of vanity!

It would because your cartilage is jam-packed with nerves. That's why it's stiffer than the rest of your ear. The pain, I'm guessing, would only last for a moment.

If your getting it on your ears, then it doesn't hurt, it just might make a popping sound, that may scare you a little bit. If your getting your nose pierced, then it may hurt a little depending on your pain tolerance. It's closer to your sinus and it will make you tear up and feel most everything.

it's not that bad getting it done, but it's really common to take a long time healing - which means you wont be able to sleep on that side and it will feel warm all the time and just uncomfortable. I had to take mine out because 6 months later I still couldn't sleep on it.

It depends on the piercer and your ear. some piercers use a gun and some use a needle. it cant hurt worse than my nipples that i got pierced yesterday :) dont worry about it. usually piercings dont hurt nearly as much as you expect. and if they do hurt, its only for a few seconds because your endorphins kick in quickly. just dont sleep on it until its healed.

Yes. I have my tragus pierced, and it hurt like the dickens when I got it done.
Also, don't ever, EVER go to anyone who uses a gun. It's not sanitary. Go to a reputable tattoo/piercing place where they have single-use needles. And do what the piercer tells you to do when it comes to healing it.
