You did know you were pregnant, I'm assuming and you probably had a fair idea of when the baby was due. Why didn't you pay the insurance ahead of time if you knew you'd be out of commission for a few days?

Edit. I know it wasn't useful. I was trying to make the point that if you had your affairs in order, you wouldn't be asking this question and you'd still have insurance coverage. You're coming across as some kind of victim here, like the insurance company is conspiring to deny you coverage, when the whole situation could have easily been prevented.

Well........

You CAN be reinstated (They may have to rewrite you...) but you are going to have to pay a lot of money up front. You will also have to sign an affidavit stating that you have not had any accidents since your insurance lapsed.

You should do whatever it takes to get reinstated with that carrier. Then, you may want to consider shopping around. It is better to shop for insurance while you HAVE insurance rather than shopping for insurance when you DON'T have insurance. You will get dinged for no insurance.

Goodluck!

Call again. You really don't want to be cancelled. I had a policy cancelled a few years ago and I had to get high risk insurance for 3 years at a very high cost.
