Okay, I went to get my hair cut the other day and the stylist told me that I should use dishwashing soap...or was it detergent? Crap. Which one? To wash my hair with every 2-3 weeks. She said it will make myhair more shiny and strip it of the sham and cond because I guess the stuff i use isn't that good. Any hair people out there that know if this is right and which one i was supposed to use?

I'm not a hair person, but you can safely use dish liquid in your hair. Do not use detergeant of any kind. It'll rip it apart.

As far as stripping your hair with it, you can do that same thing by shampooing twice during the same bath or shower. Dish liquid does do a good job of it too, but its easier for me to use double shampoos once a week and I feel I damage and dry my hair a bit less.

It's ok if you want to do as your hair dressers says. Dish liquid won't hurt your hair. Dish liquid is actually good at getting oil out of your hair and I know for a fact it is safe to do once in a while. No worries. You'll be fine.

Change stylists immediately!!! Bad advice!!!

You just need to get a clarifying shampoo and use it once a week or every two weeks. That will pull out the stuff left behind by conditioner and other hair products. Dish soap or detergent is too harsh and will dry out your hair!!!!

It was dishwashing soap, like dawn or joy. It will make ur hair shiny because it is a clarifier. You could buy one though if you arent sure about it.
If you want shiny hair, dryer sheets are really good for that. After you style your hair rub it downwards right before you leave. this will also keep the frizz away!

I've always heard that dishwashing liquid is the way to remove unwanted haircolor, maybe it makes it shiny too. I'm not sure what the chemicals are in color-depositing shampoo so I'm not sure if it applies to that as well, but it might be worth a try.

well i wouldnt use dish detergent but I do know t-gel a shampoo has tar in it and dish detergent also has tar in it so maybe thats why she recommended you use it but if I were u I would just go out and buy a bottle of Neutragena T Gel also CVS has a generic brand that works just as good as tgel and costs a little cheaper I know cause my daughter caught ringworm of the scalp and it worked really well in her hair so good luck with whatever decision you decide to make

disc washing soap will strip your hair completly down. all the shampoo and conditioner buildup will come off. So thats why she said to do it just ever few weeks. dont do it more often or it will dry your hair up.

Gurl dont do that. Either one of those is too strong for your hair. Go to a place like Trade Secret and they can introduce you to some high quality hair products that can make your shiny.

I've heard models use fabric softner in their hair, to get a certain sheen. But I would use daily clarifying shampoo, to clean, instead.
